"@MayorNHL: #LAKings GM Dean Lombardi confirms the plan is to try and get 2010 first rd pick defenseman Derek Forbort inked in the next few days."

Well.. That's good news for us? Doesn't that mean he goes to Manchester instead of his senior year at ND?

Yup.

Good for Forbort, he has nothing left to learn in ND.

i would have preferred voynov.

Also, Willie Mitchell should retire. The guy is a stud but why risk your life? He should just go out on a high note with that Cup and call it a career.

Not disappointing at all. We addressed the only true need this team had for the postseason. Doubt many of the spare part forwards moved, within our price range, would have been much of an improvement over Penner/Toffoli. We've won a cup with this offense, it is up to the defense, which got addressed, and our goaltending. Everything has to come together for a successful cup run, need them playing their best no matter who we acquired.
This is how I feel.

Its pretty amazing we have come this far with below average goaltending of Quick. 28 games played and a shaky .896% SV. Somewhat inflated because the Kings never allow many shots against, but remarkable nonetheless. Imagine this team with the old Quick.

If the other team is Sabers, I could see Ryan Miller getting moved.

The Caps goalies have not been that great.

Original report wrong...not the Sabres

Spector's Hockey ‏@SpectorsHockey 29s OK, scratch the #Sabres from that mystery team the #Capitals supposedly have a trade with. Sabres are done.

Telos,

You are correct in saying we won a cup with this offense on paper, but 25 and 10 are as of right now nowhere close to what they were in last years playoffs, that is my biggest fear right now. The poor seasons of those two, the loss of Mitchell and the regression of Quick are the biggest concerns going into the post season.

The Kings will continue to need guys like Muzzin and the entire 3rd line to play the way they have played all year.

Jeeeeeeez.

Pominville and a 4th for Larsson, Hackett, this years first and next years 2nd.

Still mad we didn't pull the trigger?

Final on Poms deal...that's a whole lot given up for him!:

Min/Buf trade: Sabres send Pominville, 4th in '14 to Wild for Larsson, Hackett a 1st in '13, a 2nd in '14

I agree about Mitchell and the regression of Quick but #10 and #25 werent exactly spectacular in the regular season last year either.

We should give Richards the benefit of the doubt based in his earlier PO performances.

Pretty intriguing. All eyes are on Washington. Makes you feel like the tension is building for nothing

What's the story on Larsson and Hackett? Are they elite prospects? Good? the level that Calgary gets back in trades?

Yup.

Good for Forbort, he has nothing left to learn in ND.

I strongly disagree, he was never anything close to a dominant player at the NCAA level. Not the way guys like Faulk, Trouba, Gardner, Schultz etc. were. But there was optimism that would happen the last two years so no guarantees it happens next year.

The Kings are probably not happy with the way the former first rounder has developed at UND and want to get him under the tutelage of our coaches and playing our system. Which is fine by me. Derek Forbort has size and reach that obviously can't be taught, but he is going to need to make alot of adjustments to be a good 4 or 5 defender in the NHL. So the sooner the better I guess.

Flames have three 1sts this year and their starting goalie is going to retire. Me thinks Lombardi has himself a trading partner at the draft in late June.

That's not a fair comparison. If CAL got ONE of those guys back in a trade, they'd have a better haul than what they got for all their moves :sarcasm:.
