Pretty minor deal, the media hype for nothing.

Well Forsberg was their 1st pick last year with the pick in Varlamov trade, considered a really good prospect moved for a 31 year old Erat, but it was getting hype because of what was being reported and not reported, though I don't see how this trade makes sense for Washington, but sets up Nashville with a nice forward prospect.

Lou at his press confrence about not being traded.

Lou " My Contract Sucks, I wish I could terminate it, to get a chance to play for another team"

Bet his agent loved hearing that coming out of his mouth....Also the Nucks

What a sh$% show the Nucks have going.

Wish we had been able to trick Washington into giving up Forsberg. Oh well. Nice deal for the Preds.

Looks like Dean is standing pat for the purpose of having plenty of options moving into 13/14. We have salary coming off, salary kicking in, and the cap going down. Better to go in with flexibility.

We'll have 9 NHL capable defensemen to pick and chose a starting 6 from and five of our top six forwards signed. The rest is basically playing moneyball and restocking some talent in the pipeline. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Bernier/Martinez/Muzzin are used at the draft to move into the first/second round.

The biggest question mark is still that second line LW hole. Can Toffoli make that transition? Does Dean look at some trade or free agent options? Do we bring in a vet on a short term deal or go all out on a player like Eriksson via trade or Iginla via free agency? Does Dean say, "I'm going back to bed" on July 1 and just resign Penner?

At least we have options. All the moves DL doesn't make usually end up being for the best in the end.

Carter for JJ and a first looks like a steal from all the trades that happen for a top 6 this week.

Well at least we know that since DL did diddly squat for forwards atleast he's gonna get a really good one at the draft with bernier being at play. Draft day Is gonna be good.

Mitchell sounds like a fairly big question mark, and Scuderi and Regehr are UFA's. Not really picking and choosing there.

We know what Greene is, Doughty still has some edges to smooth over, Voynov is going to get paid, and then 3 young guys who have been up and down.

It's not a bad situation by any stretch, but I'm not sure it's so good that there's nothing to worry about.

Nobody trades good, correctly paid top six players on draft day. The only thing we could get are some contracts that those teams don't want anymore.

I think we'll have about 3-3.5m in cap to play with and go sign someone in the offseason, but who knows. Toffoli has to fit in somewhere too.

You'd think bernier and plus Martinez will land us only draft picks and not a top 6?

I'm more concerned about the salary of said top 6. And why not use Toffoli? He's cheap and only going to improve.

As I see it, Mitchell has to be assumed lost to LTIR, so Scuderi and Regehr need to be retained. Voynov gets his imminent raise, and Brown (and possibly Greene) will need a new contract after next season.

Without getting too far into it, I figure the team will have something like 2 million in capspace entering next season, to be used for a deadline deal or for the next offseason.

Hmm hopefully we can make it work or at least not be so tight.

Off on a tangent, but I hope the Wild collapse and get swept.

The goalie market sucks and now TB is out as an option. Nucks will try their best to dump Luongo on someone, Ryan Miller will be moved, Mike Smith UFA. If Fasth plays well then Hiller will be dealt.

We know that DL has been working on Scuds and from the below, Regehr will b e inked to new contract as well
Three tough, vet warriors Greene, Scuds and Reggie paired with the three young guns. Looks good.

Lombardi thinks "there's a good chance" they can retain Regehr: "We’re looking at this as a guy that can fit here for a number of years."

Well at least we know that ... at least DL's gonna get (something really good) at the draft with bernier being at play. Draft day Is gonna be good.

Listening to the TSN guys during this whole Luongo mess of not being traded, etc. one wonders IF the market will remain WEEK for goalies during the Draft and UFA as well ...
Goalies that MIGHT LIKELY be available this summer ...

- Luongo STILL !
- does Buffalo move Miller ?
- do the Flyers buy out Ilya Bryzgalov ?
- do the Ducks try to move Jonas Hiller ?
- does Phoenix retain Mike Smith, or will he go UFA ?
- does Jonathan Bernier REALLY get much return if ALL those guys are out there too ?

And just WHO are the BUYERS ? What teams will need Goaltending ...

- Philadelphia Flyers ... don't they ALWAYS need Goaltending, or is Steve Mason the next savior/failure for them !
- Edmonton Oilers ... who knows ? obviously Khabibulin will hang 'em up one day, but WHEN ? and Devan Dubnyk ain't doing too bad, so ?
- St. Louis Blues ... with Halak & Elliott crashing so hard, do the Blues look elsewhere ?
- Tampa Bay Lightning ... have Lindback, and now Ben Bishop, so ?
- Phoenix Coyotes ... IF they let Mike Smith go to UFA, but would you ship JB to them ?
- Toronto Maple Leafs ... who knows what they're doing ? do they eventually get Luongo ?
- Buffalo Sabres ... IF they ship off Miller, maybe but they just got Matt Hackett ?
- Florida Panthers ... have Jacob Markstrom, and ?
- Calgary Flames ... with Miikka Kiprusoff calling it a career they WILL be needing ! and they have 3 1st round picks !!! :naughty:

What other team could be looking at Jonathan Bernier ? As much as BERNIE might hate the idea ... he might be with us next season as well IF Dean can't find what he wants in return ? :dunno:

See ... SFKingshomer gets it :thumbu:
