I'm not advocating it, but Guentzel is legit.

I know but it's not about that. They would suddenly have two new big name guys who are older then the core in the room. Tarasenko I have no problem with since he clearly wanted to come. But I really hope Zito doesn't think he's building team Canada here, just get the biggest names and screw chemistry. By all accounts this group is really tight and a guy Lombo is a big part of that.

It just hit me: if we acquire Pacioretty we’d move Luostarinen to the fourth line and possible push cousins out of the line up?

We’re all spouting off opinions so here’s another one. (Opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one.)

I like the addition of Tarasenko. I don’t need Guentzel because he’s too expensive for a rental. We have no hope of signing him, but have some hope of signing Tarasenko. Do we need to add another forward? Probably not. Chemistry is good and will be better. Motivation matters.

I would like to see a defense addition. Not high profile like Hanifin, but maybe a Dumba or someone like him. Once again, it wouldn’t mess up the chemistry but it would bolster our D even more and protect against injuries. However, if we don’t get a D because they’re just too expensive, I’m good with where we are too. We have 3 D that can be put in - Mahura, Balinskis, Carlsson.

Yeah, I think this should be it for us, at least as far as "big names" are concerned.

If we still want to add (and I think we're good as is), then it should be some low-key guy who can be had for cheap. Our pro scouts have done a great job identifying guys like this in the past - as trade targets, signings and waiver claims. If we want to toss one more mid-to-late round pick on an interesting guy who we might even want to keep next year, sure. Otherwise, let's call it quits.

I’m fine with what we have. Tarasenko fills the only big need I felt we needed and to me our blue line is set and looking really good. We have our squad.

Same here. I don’t see who would come out of the lineup if we were to add Guentzel.

Stenlund has sucked the past couple games but other than that, we’re set.

Is it possible they LTIR him though? That’s my concern rn is we see that upgrade get made

ofc they could move him to LTIR if his injury takes longer to heal upon further diagnosis.

Even if Zito were to acquire Guentzel then the discussion would turn to trading for an additional top4 dman, etc. Tarasenko alone will mess up the chemistry a bit but this team couldn't go into the playoffs with the 3rd line not being able to score. Every other acquisition from now on is just gravy.

Stenlund was fine, it's just the occasional iffy penalty he seems to take quite regularly over the last games.

I find it crucial that over the next 20 games we will see some ice time management, reduce the top lines' SH time out there to drop their overall ice time, maybe get guys like Lorentz and Mahura in there a bit. That's where Stenlund is instrumental

He’s been fine this season, but lately he’s taken awful penalties and turned the puck over quite a few times.

I think this team if they play their game can do what they need to do in the playoffs. I wouldn't go after Guentzel. I'm not afraid of whatever Vegas is doing.
Vegas has pretty clearly the best all around D in the league IMO. I just don't see the horses up front to make it out of the West.

Hoping that JR in Vancouver goes nuts like he has the habit and overpays Guentzel now that Vegas has loaded up a bit. Get the arms race going even more. Don't want Carolina to get him, he's exactly what they need. Their owner is a garbage bin diver and doesn't want to pay premium though.

Assholes are the new Asstros.

At this point, I'm a fan of whoever plays them. Devils, Tampa, whoever. Beat the cheat. f*** them.

I'm torn because I hate what they're doing but also can't blame them that much if the league allows it. So in a way if we don't win, I'd want Vegas to win this one and the next one with more cap shenanigans to the point where this can't be ignored.

That would make four cups won since 2015 with cap loopholes. Crazy.

So I wonder what the rationale for trading Mittelstadt was for Buffalo?

I can tell you knowing one of the guys involved with decisions there, it's partly buy low, sell high. Plus they have lots of centers. Still think it's not a great move as for players under 26, I'd rather the player trending to and not down.

imo Byram is more valuable than Mitts.
