It's why I kind of dislike Giroux, basically setting it up for himself and Flyers, kind of giving us the short end. Have no problem with the result or him as a player, but the deal felt weird to me that he had so much influence on the return.

Ok that 50% retention bumped up the price probably a bit. The Panthers don't have to ask retention so I could still see Tarasenko going for something like a 2nd or 3rd + 4th/5th.

Mantha isn’t all THAT good. I didn’t really want him to bring the lazy gene in the pool.

I didnt see lazy in the playoff series against us. He was actually one of the more positive players for them. I think Mantha is a great get for Vegas. They are already a big team and they just added more size.

He has very positive underlying numbers to be honest and is having a great season. Very productive with the bottom 6 ice time he got.

Seravalli was speculating that Zito is looking to make a big splash and since he doesn't have a lot of assets, some of the UFAs outside of Rhino maybe in play. If it's a big splash, the only guys that could pull that off are Forsling and Montour. Seems crazy to move either of those guys at this point but we've seen that Zito isn't afraid to think outside the box. The only way I can maybe see it is Forsling or Montour are asking Seth Jones / Nurse money and he would flip one of them for someone like Hanifin. But even then it would be pretty nuts.

Yeah it would be wild but Zito has big balls, wouldn't rule anything out with him. It doesn't make sense to me either, Montour is the heartbeat of this defense and Forsling is one of the best two way defenders in the league, anyone replacing those two would be a downgrade. Even Hanifin.

I wouldn't rule out anything either, but I think it's more likely that some GMs are trying to drum up the prices and are trying to get other teams to compete for players to "avoid the Panthers stacking their team". Something like the rumour that Vancouver wants to get Guentzel and ship Lindy East, maybe, to some degree, to prevent Vegas from getting him.
