If they trade for Tarasenko, I hope, and trust PoMo to have the wherewithal to sit him if it isnt working and he just isnt a fit. I think Tarasenko is too big of a name personally and I dont know where his motor is in regards to getting down and dirty.

Please dont force him into PP1, I guess PP2 is fine. But we dont need another chef in the kitchen, we just need another cook.

If Tarasenko really just wants to go to Florida, hope Zito has learned from the Giroux trade to not give up too much. That was a full value trade which was always a head scratcher to me given the context.
I think it's a bit different, Giroux was a Flyer for more than a decade and obviously cared about what they got back, Tarasenko has been in Ottawa 8 minutes and it's been a tire fire. If Tarasenko says Florida only I would expect whatever they offer gets it done, makes no sense for Ottawa to keep him.

From what I read, Colorado actually offered a better package but Giroux really wanted to be a Panther. In the end it sounded like Zito bid against himself.

But it was year 2 and you can kind see Zito was still learning the ropes (see Knight contract). Same with Chiarot. So gross. But in the end, he was right in that we really need to win at least a round and we did. Maybe he doesnt make the Tkachuk trade if we bowed out early again.

Giroux and Verhaeghe carried us to a round 1 so, butterfly effect I guess.

Yeah I get that but it still annoyed me we paid in full when there was no other team option. It's why I kind of dislike Giroux, basically setting it up for himself and Flyers, kind of giving us the short end. Have no problem with the result or him as a player, but the deal felt weird to me that he had so much influence on the return.

This thing with Hanifin is a head scratcher to me, but maybe just maybe Zito put this out there with the thought that it’d put a little pressure on Forsling and/or Montour to get things (New Contract) done more quickly or they too could be exiled to Siberia, I mean Calgary?!?!

We're probably out on Guentzel if this is the price

I cant remember the insider who spoke on it, but there are rumblings from Guentzel's camp that he wants to prove he wasnt just a product of Crosby which is something I spoke about WEEKS ago

I want ZERO part of anyone trying to make a name for themselves as a side goal. This team has ONE goal period.

Good news that that's the ask. The buy will be 3rd or.4th plus mediocre prospect.
I think max a 2nd depending on how many teams he is willing to go. But if it's just a few then it's probably a 3rd + warm body prospect. Teams are not going to pay a ton, he was avalaible for free last summer.

The Giroux trade wasn't bad. The Chariot trade was.

Giroux trade was a bit much in context… With no one to outbid (never believe COL was in on him !) and knowing you wouldn’t have the money to extend him, giving up Tippett AND a first-rounder for a rental Giroux, it was too much. 100%.

Chiarot was a disaster, you had to know the guy was in a mercenary-kind of situation (like Gudas last summer) and would take the best deal on the table, which you certainly couldn’t compete for.

But it’s okay, our pro scouts made up for it with the Montour and Forsling acquisitions.

Rumors flying that the Canucks might be moving Lindholm? That's another one I wouldn't mind the Panthers getting in on if the price is right.

We could move Lundell to wing and have center depth insurance. Also, keep him away from Boston.
