Knight and Lundell+ for Brady might be tempting.

B. Tkachuk-Barkov-Reinhart
Verhaeghe-Bennett-M. Tkachuk
Cousins-Lustorainen-Rodrigues
Lomberg-Stenlund-Gadjovich
Lorentz, Lockwood

If I’m Ottawa I’d want more though.

Dude, I love Lundell, but if the Senators will send us Tkachuk the Younger for Knight and Lundell plus say, Samoskevich and a couple of picks, I'm packing their bags myself.
I think it's fair value for a rebuilding team.

Their goaltending is ass with no reprieve in sight.

They have no defensive players

And a lotto ticket for Samo

If that’s all it takes, I’ll drive them myself. And I don’t mean to the airport, i mean ill drive them straight from south Florida all the way up to Ottawa

I mean it obviously depends how Knight is viewed atm around the league. I'm assuming he is still seen as a potential franchise goalie. Also Brady isn't Mathew. He will get a haul but if they want young players back that's a pretty good package. Maybe add a pick.

The only people left on the palnet who think Knight is a franchise goalie are Panthers fans trying to come to grips with the fact that the guy nearly washed out of hockey entirely and is currently struggling in Charlotte.

I mean, maybe, but it could also be a team issue

But hey idk. Honestly Spencer was really good early in the season last year until Winnipeg and a switch flipped then he entered player assistance.

He was also really good the season prior to last after January. He was actually better than Bob from January to the end of the season.

Too soon to cut bait, he needed time in the AHL and starts period.

We shall see

I just don’t see in what universe the senators would entertain that for even a nanosecond. I hope I’m wrong though.

Brady is one of the best power forwards in the league. Scored 30 goals 2yrs ago, scored 35g last season and is on pace for 37g this season. He was also a ppg player last year. Only 24, 6’4 210+lbs, locked in for the next 4yrs at only 8.2per. Captain of the team. One of the most important, young, top end assets they have, locked in and captain in exchange for Lundell who has shown to struggle to create his own offense or drive play and may top out as a defensively responsible 3rd line center with limited offense and a goalie who showed some promise, then struggled, went into the assostance program, has struggled in the ahl all season (which may be a team issue, but who knows), signed for another 2yrs at essentially the same caphit as oettinger and may not even develop into a reliable starter. Wayyyy too much for the Sens to gamble on. They’d need established, proven assets

Dallas was my West pick, haven't really seen anything to change my mind. Not sure why Calgary didn't wait closer to the TDL if that's the return, they were making a WC run. Also not sure why NJD retained for a 4th, waving the white flag as well?

trade is def pretty interesting on the 3 way split, but not a huge haul for him which may hopefully mean we can get someone without using our last 1st round pick in the 40th millennia

West is in an arms race, East has been quiet so far. When Hanifin is gone there will be nothing but scraps left on the table. Even he isn't some major prize.

Devils have over 8M in cap, with what's on the market I don't see any team gobbling that much at the deadline.

Brady Tkachuk is the only player I'd be interested in seeing Zito get stupid to acquire.

I think there's a 50% chance that the Tkachuk brothers on the same team = multiple Stanley Cups, and a 50% chance it's a disaster.

I'm willing to take that chance.

Brady isn't getting traded to the Panthers. Staios wouldn't accept anything less than Barkov + Lundell + Knight (who is a cap dump from their perspective). Zito would just have to figure out a way to Barkov to waive his NMC if he wants to see Brady in a Panthers jersey.

I know that most will disagree with me but I think that the Panthers will be better off without Brady on this team with the way the team currently playing and will be in the future.

Zito didn't sign Knight to that starter money for nothing. Sure, he isn't playing and the mgmt wasn't expecting him to be playing as the Panthers' starting goalie because Bob was still going to be in the books no matter what. So what's that $4.5mil per about then? imo you should consider it as a down payment. Where Zito got this idea from? Probably from Luongo. What else advice Luongo would be giving to Zito in order to justify his presence in the mgmt team?

Even if Zito wanted to trade Knight, he'd be accruing asshole-points for doing so. This means that as soon as a player comes out and admits that he needs medical or some other outside help with his personal problems, he's persona non grata to this org and he'll be get rid of at the earliest convenience. I'm pretty sure that Zito wants to avoid that kind of reputation like a plague.

I think the PR spin would go a little bit differently. "Needed a change of scenery... deserved a chance at a starting role somewhere"

Yeah I don't think it would be a bad PR move. The Panthers are in the thick of a SC hunt and have a player making 4.5 million playing in the minors. With the upcoming UFAs they need all the space they can get to keep the team together so moving him would be understandable from that perspective.

But I don't see Zito selling Knight pennies on the dollar like he's a cap dump, that would be stupid. Adan Hill went through the same stuff and is doing just fine. Knights ability is still there, just need to be patient.

Knight gives me Markstrom vibes. Like he's eventually really going to thrive as a #1 goalie in this league but might not be as soon as we were hoping. If we can be patient like you said, I think he keeps our window open for another decade if he pans out. That's the risk of moving on from him.

Zito has been on the record saying that if there is an opportunity to make the team better, he would explore that opportunity. Not that I think Ottawa is going to trade Brady, but acquiring him would be a significant upgrade and anyone who would try to spin trading Knight into bad PR would just be trolling and/or just a hater.

I wouldn't trade Barkov straight up for Brady, much less that package.
