Pretty sure Versteeg was atrocious these past two playoffs with the Hawks, even a healthy scratch at times.

Whatever, should be cheap at least.

crap...hopefully, another team can make a better offer than Kings! Who can save us?
Rangers still want to make their team worse? Florida?

Man... Purcell, Versteeg.. :shakehead

Maybe check with NYR and see if they're having buyers remorse on Stall yet. Pick him up for a second. :naughty:

Hope Lombardi has something up his sleeve.... and no more of this waiver wire bargain horse ****.

Yeah... nothing of significance is going to happen...
-Lombardi probably not looking for high cost rentals.
-Don't have the cap next year to sign long term options without moving cap (Brown) out. Unlikely before playoffs...

That leaves bargain bin guys that are cheap for one reason or another.

I keep wondering about the Kovalchuk possibility. Dean would have to make deals with two different clubs ..... NJ (for agreeing to sign Kovalchuk & then automatically losing him to waivers), and whoever's entitled to first pick up Kovalchuk off the waiver wire (Toronto or Edmonton?). It's a tricky and complicated set of deals, but it's not impossible. I'm confident that somebody's at least attempting this.....

And they'll likely lose Staal and Yandle as UFAs in a matter of months.

Remember when the Kings obtained Mattias Norstrom, Ian Laperriere, Ray Ferraro and Nathan LaFayette from the Rangers for them to borrow Jari Kurri, Marty McSorley and Shane Churla for a couple of months?

Some things never change.

:handclap: yes I do this is one of my favorite King trades ever. I was so happy the day this was made. A very unlike King trade as we were usually the team giving good youth/pick for old guys. Thank hockey gods we have Dean & co running things now.

I feel like most people here are having outlandish expectations for what's available and their prices.

Example is Phoenix wants a 1st or high pick for Boedker, you don't do that, Boedker is overrated beyond belief, poor 5 on 5 production, stacking those power play points this season.

IMO players knowingly available are mediocre at best (except Eriksson, but let's be real there) and I feel their prices are too high.

For what's realistically available and what kings can offer, versteeg etc is what you can expect, Dean isn't gonna trade Brown this season for a blockbuster, in summer all bets are off though on brown being moved, especially to fit Lucic in.

With Vrbata, at least he's been known to break out and score 30 some seasons, and he's in a slump, and he's a UFA, and he plays the right.

Regardless if you have blind love for Dean or not or think the prices are to high, the realism is this team isn't winning a cup with this team as it is today,so either Dean upgrades the defense and bottom 6 or it will be a short playoffs.
