Well Duck fans seem to think highly of him. We don't watch him so we got no idea what to expect.

I’m sure he is easy to like. More so when you are a fan of a team providing you with little to cheer for when it comes to W’s and goals.
He is an honest worker.
But guys like Jankowski and Colton Sceviour are better hockey players. In general and for our 4th line in the playoffs.

IMO.

I'm just glad the Penguins traded for Carter because Carter is a much better acquisition than Bennett and I don't think Bennett would have been much cheaper than Carter.

I don't think Bennett was that available. If so Calgary probably wanted a little more. Sounds like Bennett is happy there and Sutter is happy with him.

Not arguing, just curious - why do you think that?.
we are looking for a back up for the playoff's not someone that will be here for a few years. so ...
1. he can play multiple position
2. he has lots of experience so fitting should be easer
in theory of course:laugh:

Still, I don't see how bringing in a guy like Carter or potentially a 4th liner who probably wouldn't play all the time really rocks the boat at all. It's not like they're bringing in a player that is going to play 18 mins a night and may disrupt the chemistry of the top 6 or goalie insurance that could have a mental impact on our tandem.

Kahun was our tenth most used forward last year and plenty of players called out his trade as a move that messed with chemistry.

I could see Rodrigues or Gaudreau getting benched resulting in a similar situation.

I think there is a chance Bennett is Roslovic 2.0, but there's a good chance he's just not that good, too. That's for a desperate team to find out, not this current Penguins team. Carter is a much safer pickup.

Big difference is those guys are still here. They can go back in the line up if they are taken out and things start going south. Gaudreau isn't playing regularly even if we made 0 moves and we actually got healthy.

Team has no right to be scrambled because they lost an AHL guy who’s only been playing for like a month  Gaudreau is also injured. Rodrigues is going to make it into the lineup over Deslauriers most games if they get him.

if benching gaudreau for carter makes this team worse, they have no business being in the playoffs.

It’s funny how so many people watch this team year after year and learn no lessons from it.

Hopefully, if we make multiple trades they are made with a purpose versus moves for moves sake.

I don't think they're going to make a ton of trades. At most, I think we'll see something like Lafferty for Deslauriers.

If they are going after Deslauriers I’m hoping he’s trying to get Getzlaf or Rakell as well. Deslauriers on his own makes zero sense. We don’t need someone to fight Tom Wilson. Tom Wilson either won’t fight or he’s going to keep running people even if he does fight. They need to stop worrying about caveman and just focus on playing hockey, which several players on the current roster are better at then Deslauriers

Last year the team was on a downward trend already before the deadline. Sheary was brought in to play with Sid because Guentzel was out. Marleau was definitely cooked though.

I just don’t like us adding more than Carter. It seems he had the versatility to fill any role we need currently in our top nine.

If it is Jankowski or Riikola for Deslauriers, whatever. But, why are we adding another mil next year when Teddy needs resigned?

NO way I am giving up much for a winger by most accounts has been OK at best. Can he provide needed grit and response, sure. I have been critical for years over the Pens either not having a player with bang or Sully not playing when the Pens have one. But for peanuts yes I take him.

How many runs did Wilson take when Reaves was here? Want a hint?

I really don't see the Penguins adding anything more unless it's a similarly salaried swap. They're already in a position where they'll have to send someone like Sceviour to the taxi squad when they activate Malkin in order to make the cap work.

In fact, it's more likely they subtract and send someone like Riikola for draft picks.

Zohorna first I imagine. Sully is using Lafferty in the Tanev role and tbh he is at least being serviceable compared to a total suck.
It's Gaudreau right now, depending on how bad he's injured. If Gaudreau is OK, then Zohorna will be first out.
