Maybe Kane? I know he's not a Lombardi/Kings type player but was Carter before he got here?

Plus Dean might be a bit more willing to take a chance on a guy like that with that reputation than he was from '12-14.

I think Dean would refrain from Kane for two reasons; the off-ice crap, and he'll be a UFA next summer.

Could be looking at some UFA rentals on the blueline like Kulikov or Franson, or Iginla from the Avs.

Please find a way to get Duchene! Pretty please...

If the Kings don't have the assets to get Landeskog, I can't imagine them being able to put something together for Duchene.

Goes to show you how much the organization is hurting for assets when they can't even enter the ballpark with any trade offers.

Gotta set your expectations low and expect a low cost rental if any additions are made.

Yea I guess, but Iginla is not someone I hope we're targeting. Not enough to put us in the conversation of a legit contender.

Realistically, there's nobody like that the Kings could obtain. There's no Jeff Carter like forward that they could land, they just don't have anything to offer to pull something like that off as they blew their load with the Sekera and Lucic trades in the previous two years.

Gaborik to a degree was actually one of those low risk, high reward moves that didn't cost much that paid major dividends during the 2014 run, so an addition like that may help should this team manage to get in.

Two birds with one stone. Two non-playoff teams with assets to get rid of in one building on the east coast. Too much going on there to guess!

There was some JVR chatter here and there too but similar issue.

Doesn't make sense to give up a lot for a guy who is practically guaranteed to walk next year. Need to continue stashing cost-controlled assets.

Is what Lombardi should do.

One of Martinez/Muzzin, King, Clifford. Gaborik or Brown if anyone will bite.

Martinez and Muzzin would demand a significant return, the rest not so much. I really thought King was on his way to being a 40 point winger who could play effectively on many lines (a really valuable guy) but he has stagnated.

I think most of us did. But based off his playoff history alone he could fetch a decent return.

Martinez to me is the guy to sell at the deadline. The Kings have cheaper younger defensemen capable of growing into his position. Martinez would command a decent return.

I would sell off more than Martinez if I were Dean, but it's unlikely to happen.

I think we are all in agreement we don't want DL to panic to salvage the year and bring in an older Free Agent to be.

Looking forward to next year we are still short a quality top 6 Man and we need to balance out the defence as we are overloaded with LHD . Going through the NHL rosters looking for 20 minute a night 2nd pairing defenceman there is not a whole lot. I made a list of guys that might fit, some would plug the hole, some are stars and would cost.

WPG

Trouba - would cost us a ton, think Toffoli, would give us 1 more year of cheap quality play
Myers - injuries have set him back, 5.5 a year, if were writing off the year try swapping Martinez +

Shattenkirk - would be a perfect fit as he provides good offence, Free agent price tag may be to high

Tanev - solid mid 20'ish defensemen , may be more buck for the bang though

Barrie -5.5 mil is okay, goes UFA same year as Doughty, placeholder for youngster like LaDue or Clague

Eric Johnson - perfect 2nd pairing guy, but 6 mil a year hurts, signed long term

Faulk - firesale on D but offensive beast, same price and term as Barrie, would cost a ton to get

Hamilton - I think Calgary likes him again, I like him, long term 5.75. Would cost a lot but awesome

Wideman - UFA this summer, can he bounce back, older, maybe get on the cheap in the summer?

Bogosian - an actual second pairing Greene with a big contract and injury history , good fit when healthy

Ristolainen - this guy could be around when Doughty bolts to T.O, stud, cost a ton

Stone - UFA this summer, I would imagine LV grabs him, would look good w Forbort

just the options i seen for a balanced defence. RHD are hard to find. No perfect fit but some interesting ones

I agree on SELL this year. I'm fine with either Martinez or Muzzin going. Even both if the returns are going to be good enough to be honest.

Brown and Gaborik, we're stuck with, unless we're willing to take negative return.

Maybe we can get something for King or Clifford. I'm good with moving both of them as well. I like Lewis a lot for what he does on the PK, etc. but I'd move him as well even though he has a good contract for several years out.

We should attempt to get picks in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 draft years. I dont want to take on salary. We're going to have to re-sign Toffoli, Pearson now, and eventually Doughty

I don't think the Kings will make a big trade.

There is the expansion draft. If the Kings trade for Muzzin/McNabb for someone with term, the Kings will have to go 7-3-1. That means almost certainly that Vegas chooses McNabb. Because that would hurt the Kings the most. The Kings can't afford to lose 2 defencemen at effectively the same time. We'd end up with 3 guys who are rookies now on our blue line and still have a hole in that 6th spot.

Then there's the cap. The cap crunch is next year, not this year. Without trading a $4 million defenceman, it would be tight as it is. Both Duchene and Landeskog have larger cap hits. $2 million larger in Duchene's case. Colorado would have to retain which means a bigger cost to us.

If Colorado doesn't retain, then next season, we lose someone else that could help us at the NHL level and get a prospect or picks in return. that doesn't help us and actually hurts us.

Of course any 'trade option' would involve the CAp and hopefully would not be a rental

That said, on the TSN podcast last night, they mentioned that Rutherford has some blue line injuries that have the Pens eyeing a move for a defensemen. (Also might be interested in a 'tough , nasty' forward'.) I wonder if there is a forward on the Pens that if the other deals fall thru, could be had for a Kings' defenseman or part of a package to include a tough, nasty forward.

THey also mentioned that the Stars Patrick Eaves (21 goals, 37 pts ) is drawing a lot of interest from GM's And why not , he's having a good year and at 1M, he's could be a pretty good depth winger.

Hoven says LA values Muzzin over Amart. Take it for what it's worth.

He also said Kings offered Amart/Kempe/2cd for Landeskog.

Offer being the key word there, that's not what the Avs want. AMart is way too old, Kempe not proven and a 2nd isn't a 1st.
Still hearing the Bruins and Canes are in the lead for Landy and the BRuins really want him.

Duchene, a lot of teams are interested, just a matter of when the Avs do the deal, and how badly some team wants him now, rather than June. Bluejackets are 'extremely ' interested.
