Jays aren't even entirely paying Ray. Arizona gave them cash along with Ray for Bergen.

Villar's contract is 8.2 million, no fan or gate revenue... Marlins are a cost focussed franchise. They were probably willing to give him up for free if we take the entire contract. Assuming we're taking on the whole salary and he's a free agent in 1.5 months It's probably a very small piece, maybe only slightly better the Bergen

Jays rotation looks very good when healthy.

Ryu
Shoemaker
Walker
Ray
Pearson

For now:

Ryu
Walker
Ray
Anderson
Roark

Healthy lineup:

Biggio 2B
Bichette SS
Grichuk CF
Hernandez RF
Vladdy 1B
Gurriel LF
Tellez DH
Jansen C
Villar 3B

Marlins must be telling Villar, go into the visitors clubhouse, we'll see you tomorrow

Good news: We get an upgrade on the vast terribleness that we've had at SS/3B since Bo got injured.
Bad News: Montoyo is going to hit him and his 90 wRC+ in the leadoff spot instead of Biggio because speed.

Not that its insignificant, but max cost to the Jays here is...$1.5M? Not a ton.

Never even thought of this but this is very likely.

If this team gets Lance Lynn they can do some damage in the playoffs. That rotation would be nasty, the bullpen looks elite and the bats should be there when Bo gets back and Vlad continues to improve. They'd immediately be top 2-3 in the AL imo.

Tough to say if we should cry and laugh at this point.

So when Bo comes back Villar shifts to 3rd. Guess that means Panik plays LF and Gurriel comes out of the lineup.
