Who gets traded at the trade deadline?

The Kings are probably going to be that 2nd phone call when the big names drop. Everyone has the framework for potential deals so it's a waiting game. The Toffoli rumors seem to be tied into the bigger names so when those go, he looks really good. Blake probably could have traded him already if he were willing to take a bad return but he is just waiting it out to see if the market softens.

I don't see much coming back on Carter so it probably boils down to dumping the contract for minimal assets or holding on and hoping he figures out out. I don't see him all of the sudden turning into a 20+ goal scorer at 35 next year especially on a team going nowhere but anyone who trades for him is going off the notion that he will have a resurgence on a winner.
 
Now I'm hoping Columbus goes into the Draft with no picks and just has an empty table.

It was a 'you had to be there' thing, but when I went to the 2015 Draft I sat near the St. Louis table with the hopes of bugging Marty Brodeur for an autograph. They gave up their first rounder that year for Ryan Miller. At some point during the first round, I looked over to their table and it was like a dozen guys sitting there silently staring into the distance for several minutes. It was bizarre, almost like they were in detention.

if Toff goes to the bruins I would hope for at least Senyshyn coming back, maybe plus a pick. Can we set a condition of the pick that they have to beat the leafs in the first round?

Valuable for what? A valuable backup goaltender is wasted on a last place team. Trade him for assets while his sv% is as high, there's plenty of stop gap goalies that can be signed in the offseason if Quick gets hurt/traded and Petersen's not ready yet.

Rather keep Campbell.

The idea is probably that Petersen/Campbell split the net next year, and if all goes well Petersen takes over in 20-21, or 21-22 at the latest.

what would the ask be from dallas for Toffoli? Assuming he doesn't get LA a first Dallas doesn't have the picks
 
50 mins left. If OTT waits to the end, teams that miss out on him might not have time to get an alternate deal lined up.
