The idea is probably that Petersen/Campbell split the net next year, and if all goes well Petersen takes over in 20-21, or 21-22 at the latest.

I get that, but why not trade Campbell for assets now and then sign Smith/Howard/Neuvirth/Elliot/Miller to babysit Petersen instead. I just don't see the point in keeping him, he's one of the few players who's value has actually appreciated this year.

Why spend more for a older plug?Keep the young goalies together.We need better picks not more 3rds and 4ths.Keep Campbell.
