I get that, but why not trade Campbell for assets now and then sign Smith/Howard/Neuvirth/Elliot/Miller to babysit Petersen instead. I just don't see the point in keeping him, he's one of the few players who's value has actually appreciated this year.

Because they probably want to get off Quick's contract anyway, and they can have two goalies they know.

Flames fan - got any detailed scouting report on Fantenberg? First Pass? How does he handle a forecheck? Skating? Point shot get through traffic? Penalty killing?

Acquiring a free lottery ticket for this isn't too shabby, though seeing more dead weight shed from this roster would be nice.


As it has been intimated by a number of sources, the flurry of roster moves for the Kings will likely come this summer.

If the Flames get to the Conference Finals, it becomes a 3rd, if Fantenberg plays in 50% of the games.

Why spend more for a older plug?Keep the young goalies together.We need better picks not more 3rds and 4ths.Keep Campbell.

More 3rds and 4ths can be packaged for better picks. And Campbell's really not that young, he's 27, same age as Pearson, Toffoli, Fantenberg...guys we're already shipping out. This isn't getting turned around next year, why do we care if we spend money on a older back-up? In this scenario we've traded Quick too and cleared out over $6 mil in goalie salary. If I'm Blake, I'm dealing Campbell.

I wonder if Roy showing decency in his first 3 pro games led to them being comfortable dealing Fantenberg, Roy has looked ok, not overwhelmed, not cautious, not gonna overpower with talent, but just a strong...unspectacular defensive game.
