Wait a sec... why did I think Kevin Hayes was a 60 point player.

The guy is the same age as Toffoli and puts up less points.

If we can get a 1st, a young bottom six forward, and another pick for him I'm all for it.
I don't know a late first, a young forward who can't seem to put it together and a 4th if they win the Cup otherwise no pick doesn't really do it for me.

You wonder if a team like Boston or NYI (take your pick really), might circle back on Toffoli if the price doesn't come down on Stone or he goes elsewhere.

Lewis is exactly the type of player you trade for if you want to win a Cup. The guy is just one of those types that fills holes, does a lot of things well but isn't sexy. I would trade a 2nd for him if I had a hole on my team and I needed that element. That said, he probably nets a 3rd in return, gathers no publicity but matters in the end.

A first and a top prospect is pretty rich for him. The guy is not a playoff performer with 5 goals in his last 30 games, and not scoring in his last 12 playoffs .

Or doing anything else in the last 4 playoff series, no impact shifts. Also, stat wise, corsi ,etc, worst forward on the team. Also, has a lot of miles on his odometer.

Cliff Pu to Florida for future considerations

The only prospect acquired in the August Jeff Skinner trade has been shipped off for future considerations.
Carolina dealt Skinner and his expiring contract to Buffalo and while he has been lights-out for the Sabres, Carolina today traded Pu way.

In a separate, minor league deal, Carolina also brought in Tomas Jurco as a replacement.

In the Skinner trade Carolina also got a second-round pick in 2019 and third- and sixth-round picks in 2020.

One, I think the Kings need a rebuild to once again become a cup contender. Two, cap space is an asset for a rebuilding team.

So, to me, you don’t hold out for premium picks or prospects as a condition in a deal for any of those players. Ideally, for a Carter or Kovy, you take gambles on overage prospects or RFAs to take back some salary and retain no more than 25% on the outgoing salary.

For the other guys like Martinez and Toffoli, you should accept an overage prospect and multiple 3rd or 4th round picks in a couple of drafts, zero retained salary.

If Blake can’t move Toffoli and Martinez, he’s a joke and should be fired.

Well, apparently it's that easy. Just because a player and/or players aren't moved doesn't mean a GM should be fired or is a joke. Blake is trying to get the best possible return for these players that is the best for this team going forward. No point in making a deal to just make a deal.

He already did that yesterday.
