I expect Martinez to be gone, it puts the Kings in a tough spot because the defense is going to be horrific, but with what a bum like Lovejoy brought back, it just makes to much sense to not strike while Martinez's value is still solid.
With any luck we moved Martinez, Lewis and Toffoli... hell I’d see what a package like that could get us from the Avs or Isles

Will be sad to see him go, he seems to be one of the few that gives shit, but I agree, no better time than now.

There’s some decent options on defense in free agency we could sign as fillers, nothing amazing, but solid enough to fill until prospects are brought up...

That's exactly what I was going to say and forgot to. It makes more sense for the Kings to bank whatever pick(s) they get for Martinez and then sign a filler veteran for 2 years to take his spot.

Why spend money for a veteran, might as well keep Martinez. From what has been said,Martinez is probably staying now that Muzzin is gone and Toffoli and Clifford are as well. All can change depending on the packages teams are willing to pay.But I wouldnt be shock if those players arent moved.

Get assets in return and sign younger options on the free agency market(T.Myers,Gardiner), although they may be a little too costly. That’s why...

Seriously, I had no idea he was still in the league until I saw the trade. Then I was like, they got that for him?

Exactly why you pass on a guy like Meyers who will cost more and a longer term.Meyers will be looking at at least 6-7 x 6 deal. He'll be 30 in Feb.Marty is stil cheap, and a year older and a better dman.

I’d look at Edler and McQuaid...although, yes, they are a little older.

If you can get a 2nd and solid prospect for Martinez, you do it and fill his spot with edler or mcquaid this offseason on shorter 2-3 year deals...

Any GM that gives Meyers more than 3 years is out of their mind.

It will happen, bank on it![so is he] You know his agent will be pushing a 5-6 year deal using the 2008 draft and what the guys are making now as a starting point. I bet EDM does something like that.

The only way Carts looks attractive to other teams is if he can be had for pennies on the dollar. LA will be giving him away at this point.
True but getting rid of these bad contracts is valuable. I know the Kings won't need the cap space for at least 2-3 years, still though, clean slate and all that.

Our ECHL team is loaded.

First, Pavel Jenys and now Iacopelli.
Well Manchester (AHL) won a Calder cup, maybe Manchester (ECHL) wins a Kelly Cup. Kings won two Stanley Cups. An organization with a winning tradition. Sounds good. Would be something positive.

Saw Sonny Milano could be had for a decent draft pick, he might be worth a look at, not sure why he never put it together in Columbus, but take a flyer on him, I would, throw them a 4th etc.

On their board the Columbus fans were saying he only knows how to play offense, very little defensive awareness, and does not play with any grit. All of which does not work with Tortorella as the head coach.

Someone even said that while he has blazing speed he looks lost and spastic because he's flying around without fully knowing where he should be or going to.

They speculate he needs a team that doesn't focus on rigid defensive structure to take advantage of his skills.

Sounds exactly what Tortorella said about Duclair lol
