For poops and giggles:

Jets - Stone
Flames - Johansson
Preds - Nyquist
Bruins - Hayes
Canes - Brassard
Vegas - Hoffman
Blues - Simmonds
Leafs - McQuaid, Ferland

On top of that, they also lost Jamie Benn to an undisclosed injury during the same game.
This likely makes Dallas n0n-buyers at the deadline. With the Stars looking like 1st round fodder for Winnipeg / Nashville or Calgary, I wonder if they can find a taker for a 35-year old Spezza who will be a UFA after this season. Spezza doesn't offer much more than Carter other than being strictly a rental.

I still like the Kings chances of moving Kovalchuk, if Uncle Lou is on the other end of the line with Blake.

Spencer Watson will be missed. Had the potential to be the next Mark Rooneem or Greg Hogeboom.

Our ECHL team is loaded.

First, Pavel Jenys and now Iacopelli.

I don’t think we’ll see any of our players moved till very late tomorrow afternoon or possibly be announced after the trade deadline.

Maybe a team takes a gamble on a Carter, Kovy, or Toffoli if they miss out on all the bigger name free agents or cannot pay the price.

So if we sent Carter to Boston, would it be insane to take Backes from them, in order to get a pretty solid return, such as Boston’s 1st rounder, possible a solid prospect too? Backes cap hit is larger, but he has 1 year less remaining on his contract, and we could buy him out after next season...

Or is that completely stupid?
