Are the Jets for real or are they going to crash and burn?

You don’t win cups playing 1 way hockey, unless you’re elite at it. And even then it’s still hard.

Scheifele is lazy on D. Instead of being offended over the truth, you can embrace it.

I watch them. That’s why I said Scheifele sucks at D
When the Jets came closest to the Cup Scheifele was a 14 goal scorer.

I think the moving part in there is Vilardi. If he plays like he did last playoff, you could see Arniel moving Iafallo up the lineup to protect Scheif a bit more defensively, and you concentrate on being a 3 headed monster with Scheif, Connor and Morrissey all being extremely dangerous offensively

If the Jets put Lowry and Ehlers together like they did to beat Colorado this year with Ehlers burning Makar to get on the board 1st shift, they could balance out 3 scoring lines with some strong defensive play on each line.

Soooooo... I get that we're only ~50 games into the season but I need to know: are they for real or not?

IDK. Too early to tell. Should have a little more data by Game 81.

This season's edition of the Jets may not win the Cup, and they may not go deep -- but thus far, it's fair to say they ain't The Frauds of seasons of yore.

If nothing else, this has been their best regular season team since they came back. Hopefully we get to see at least 2 rounds of playoffs this season. 😁

“What do you expect Coach? It was a high danger chance!”

Come on man. I can’t believe you’re seriously making that point. “He wasn’t bad he just let in a lot of goals”. He’s supposed to be one of the best goalies in the league. He’s gotta be excellent in the playoffs too no matter what.
I said he was outplayed by the Av's goalie. He did not crumble because but for Helly things would have been worse. I do recall thinking he could use a game off after game 3 but he never got it and we will never know what would have happened had he sat one game to recoup from all the rubber he faced.

I don’t get it.
Jets lose Monohan and Tofolli and add no scoring options yet have the best PP in the league.
Lose Dillion and Schmidt and Replacing them with AHL Defenders and still have good defensive metrics. What gives?

Observations:
Jet are 10W in Oct, 9W in Nov, 9W in Dec, and 9W in Jan. I'd say this is elite winning consistency.

Helle's season so far is much better then last season which he won the Vesina

Jets are 19-9-3 against all curent PO teams so far. Again elite consistency.

Jet's PP has come back down to Earth from 50% in Oct to 33.3% today. Almost 5% points ahead of 2nd place Vegas

Jets goal Diff is 64. 11 goals higher then 2nd place Wash.

Now that we are about 2/3 of the season done I would say these are top consistent SC contending numbers. Unless the Jets fall flat on their face for the rest of the season they will go in the PO's as a top 3 seed if not the top seed. Now they will have to prove it in the POs. Anything less then a WCF would be considered another fail season for the Jets even if they win the President's Trophy.
Jets are now 20-9-3 against curent PO's teams. They dominated the 5th top team in the league Carolina 3-0. They dominated them without Helle playing, The Jets won with their 2n string goalie getting a shutout..

The Jets did not dominate Carolina tonight.

Carolina spammed shot attempts from everywhere, as they do. But I thought the Jets had more dangerous, in-close, quality chances.

I don't know about dominated... Carolina was pretty good, but the Jets were better.
That's a fair assessment. And if you were a Canes fan, the refs did you dirty. A jets fan thinks they finally made all the right calls.

Old Vets are frauds, never go full Nashville.

Blowing your load at TD for the sake of worthless TSN SN deadline coverage and getting brainwashed by the Mediatards is a sure way to suck year after year.

I hope we don't make any stupid trades because 90% chance all the trades would do is ruin the team spirit and undo all the hard work of the people that are already here.

The Jets did not dominate Carolina tonight.
Correction, the refs Dominated the Canes

Well first, Monahan and Toffoli brought almost nothing of value to the team. Messed with what little team chemistry they had, and were a bust in the short playoffs. Ill-advised acquisitions who are not missed.

Second, we didn't replace Dillon and Schmidt with AHL defenders, unless you consider anyone who ever played in the AHL an AHL-level player...in which case Kyle Connor is an AHL-level player, too. Samberg in particular is a legit top-four NHL defenseman this year.

Third, and maybe most importantly? Coaching, coaching, coaching. The changes on the coaching staff this year took a team with the potential to be great, and actually made them great...so far.

Anyone who thinks the Jets are a fluke, or won't go far in the playoffs because they crapped out in the playoffs the past two years is as stupid as I am...and I'm pretty stupid. The Islanders crapped out in the playoffs every year in the late '70s...until they didn't. The Oilers in the early '80s? The same.

I'm not saying the Jets will win, but at least I'm astute enough to admit that I haven't got a clue, and neither does anyone else. Pretending you do just makes you look dumb.
