Why? Were many 30+ year old non-UFA's traded today, or in the weeks leading up to today? I guess Muzzin, but he's a defenseman, not a 4th line winger.

I highly doubt it'll be all that much easier to trade anyone on this roster at the draft either. Those same issues(age, term) don't go away in a few months. The Kings aren't getting out of this mess quickly.
 
Surprised NYI didn't do anything.......maybe they did and it's not announced yet....but man...I hoped/sworn they would have been all over Kovy lol

Yeah, I'm with you on all this. I thought someone would want Kovy for an injection of offence - or at least a pp specialist - but I guess two more years at his price was too much to pay. Maybe next deadline. The new Kings coach better make him shine like a diamond so we can move him out, though, instead of burying him like Willie Dumdum.

I have no hopes on Phaneuf though. I've reconciled myself to being stuck with him.

What’s normal though for a guy who is going to be 35 and on the down cycle of a career? Carter has never been a workout warrior either. I’m comparing him to Kovy who is said to be very serious about training and motivated, Carter looks like a guy who is just punching the clock and in reality, there isn’t much to be motivated for on this team at his age.

I think that there is a greater chance of Carter being a mediocre 15 goal guy and a defensive liability that reinventing his game to utilize the skills he still has. His new norm is probably a 3rd Line Center.

seriously, if they aren't gonna play hockey the least they could do is put on a show and make it difficult for other teams
