Our players were playing so poorly no one wanted them. If their plan was to suck so bad that no teams would want to trade for them, they did a really good ****ing job

Another mediocre performance turned in by slack jawed yokel GM Rob Blake today. The chief hack kicked the can down the road once again, and has yet to prove he has any plan in mind to improve this franchise.

So far, his history as GM ranks below Taylor, McMaster and Beverly when it comes to results. It’s going to be past put up or shut up time by the end of July 2019.

Absolute garbage nonsense again.

I don't know why they think the Kings players somehow magically gain value at the end of the season.

Because these guys have term left, off-season that is what guys are looking for, Trade deadline, not many players WITH term are traded, off-season they have time to plan their roster etc, trade deadline is basically sellers going, ok we need to offload here here here here ,and buyers going ok, we want him for 3 months, him for 3 months, him for 3 months etc

In some ways waiting until the off-season with guys who have term can be beneficial because we see guys get overpaid in free agency every summer. Someone might say, "I can have Trevor Lewis for 1 year instead of giving (insert name here) 4 years, and all it costs is a 3rd?" Same thing for Martinez, 2 years at $4M or the huge term that some of these blue liners are gonna get?

With Quick it could be a little different, just a matter of more chairs than capable Goaltenders.

Yeah, it's shocking how this concept is seemingly so foreign to some. The deadline is typically for rentals, the draft for players with term. It is difficult to focus on long term planning mid season, much easier to plan cap usage and determine direction in the offseason. Blake handled this deadline very well, got good return on Muzzin and was able to get some value on the upcoming UFA's. I understand some hate Blake and want to trash him, but this is not the right time to do so.

Wait until he actually does something wrong at the very least, trading Muzzin then say trading Clague for Brassard....ok...then you have reason to bitch and moan...but to bitch and moan because he didn't move Carter Kovy, Quick, Lewis, ALL who have term, is just absolute idiotic nonsense,

It's ok to be disappointed, I REALLY thought Kovy was gonna go to the NYI, never in a million years did I think they would stand pat, yea, that sucked, but suck it up buttercup, it's a helluva lot better than trading Lewis for a 6th just to say he look, I made a trade

I call BS on the whole let the kids play and they want competitive hockey players.

No doubt Kopitar and Brown will play 20+ of uninspired play, 3+ minutes of PP time
Carter and TT will play 17-20+ minutes of a poop show.
Forbort will play over 22 minutes and look like some dude they picked out of the stands.
Wagner will play 8 minutes, have 3 shots, 3 hits, a take-away, a break-away, zero PP time.

Same as it ever was

Disappointed more moves weren't made, but if the returns aren't worth it, you move on.

I just don't want Blake doing a 180 and thinking they can make the team a cup contender with the current core.

That's the biggest key, but I think him trading Muzzin, signifies that he doesn't think that.....I could be wrong and he goes out and trades 1st rounders for players etc, but on the whole, I don't think they trade Muzzin, with term, if they thought this year was an aberration.

No, it's the term. Hagelin, Thompson, and Fantenberg got traded, and none of them are good.

What are you expecting? Look around the league. Who is trading 30+ year old guy with multiple years on their contracts?

Ok so why is Carter still playing? Why is Forbort still in the league?

GMs can say whatever they want to make it all sound good, but there's a roster reality. There's a financial reality. Carter and Forbort aren't going to sit. It's amazing Phaneuf has had a couple scratches.

I'll withhold judgement until we see who is on the ice for the Kings in October. It was never going to be easy for Blake to get out from the awful contracts that he inherited. I think the fact that Carter is still a King tells us that he either has zero trade value or that he was going to likely retire if traded. As far as Kovalchuk it's just hard to get anyone to take on that contract

And not to rain on anyones parade, but it's hard to play "kids" when you really don't have any that are of any significance. Next season with the top 5 pick, Kupari and Vilardi (if healthy) we will hopefully see some good young players actually get a look on what should be another bottom 5 team in the league.

Well, got nothing much now but hopefully something at the draft.

Via LAKI - Doesn't sound like Doughty or Kopitar have a clue as to why this season is a disaster. I flip flop on those two regarding trading them. Maybe now (in general) is the time to truly blow this thing up. Seriously, these guys have been a huge disappointment.

So Blake got rid of all the UFAs? Hags, Thompson, Fantenberg. Am I missing somebody?

Returns were:
2019 3rd + (2020 conditional 6th)
2019 4th
2020 4th(conditional 3rd)

Hoping we can get better picks for more "productive" players this summer\next TDL.
