Well, we still have 8 D. Oh well.

Time to grind it out and hope Kovy has a speedy recovery. There is enough depth on this team to roll 4 decent lines without Ilya. Nothing to be excited about but you can win games or scrape points out of them with this lineup. Lets get a playoff spot.

It's a 7th round pick for a guy who scored 17 goals last year. It's the closest thing to a bag of pucks that a team could actually trade and he COULD help the team. If he stinks, oh well they gave up nothing.

I don't understand the people bemoaning the fact we didn't trade a defenseman.

Salvador is not tradeable given he is the captain.
Volchie has a no trade and is paid a ton and stinks. Who would bother wanting him?
Tallinder is a constant injury risk. Would have some value if not injuried so frequently.
Zidlicky would be a rental for most teams (1 year deal) and I think the team actually needs him given his offensive skill and PP ability...

I think everyone wants to keep Greene, Larrson and Fayne.

The most we could have gotten was maybe a 5th/6th round pick for someone like Tallinder (the only tradable asset that would make sense to deal) and that kinda trade would be available in the summer.

I'm fine with this...

Exactly!!!!...how were we going to get better?? None of the D guys we have would have brought anything of any worth back. the log jam at D is going to last exactly 11 more games(or how many we have left). Someone like Tallinder may look way more attractive at draft time to a team that drafts or has a young D guy that needs a veteran presence. HT already showed he can do this with Tyler Myers. Zid amd Harrold are UFA Volch may be bought out. We have 2 beast teams in our way in Bost and pitts nothing today would have brought us to that level so why bother doing something just because.

Not reading through all of this... apologies if it's been posted.

I know some people aren't fans of the LA Kings twitter account, but this is a worthy recap of today's moves:

Secondly - sure we didn't trade a defensemen, but a guy like Tallinder could still become a valuable asset at the draft. Could help to trade up or acquire an extra pick or two.

Just have to cross the fingers and hope that Pete stops shuffling the D around and sticks with something he likes from here until the playoffs. And I'm not going to "if" the playoffs, nope.
