Looks like there are several level headed people here who don’t want to overpay for a player. The leafs are not real contenders.

They can have a great summer and make big changes with a huge amount of cap space

Reilly is a huge problem

Matthews is not a winner

Berube has done a good job but there is alot more work to be done.
Matthew Tkachuk was considered one of the biggest playoff chokers until he wasn't

Ovechkin was considered a playoff choker until he wasn't

Yzerman was considered a playoff choker until he wasn't

Matthews is still very young, as long as we have him we will be contenders for years to come.

I’m glad we have stayed out of this.
Nelson would have been for 1st,3 and Cowan.

1 1 2 for gourde and bjorkstrand? This is nutty.

Now watch us trade a huge package for Schenn.
Why not just offer sheet Wyatt Johnston for 4 firsts at that point?

lol, they gave up a first, their top prospect and another asset for a rental… unless I missed he’s coming with an extension

Maybe they win I don’t have a crystal ball. If they do win no one will care for sure.
You can keep loling but this is similar commentary to when he traded for Kuemper and others en route to their 2022 Cup.

These prices are ridiculous, even for the TDL. I don't blame Brad one bit if he only makes a minor move or 2. We have gone big name fishing in the past and the team still proves they were incapable of making some noise in the playoffs. Still can't believe a forward group consisting of our Big 4 and ROR was only able to win 5 playoff games.

Unless we do a similar trade along the lines of Muzzin/McCabe, but someone impactful with term (not Schenn or Laughton), then doesn't make sense to move our first. Keeping our prospects like Minten and Cowan are vital in adding some cheap future depth to our cap struck team, since we are top heavy and tossing them at a rental or a guy in their 30s would be extremely desperate by management.

Personally I don’t think Colorado is good enough this year, that’s just me, that’s why I’m loling. Are they better than Vegas or Dallas, no imo. It’s hard cause I think as a COL fan I respect restructuring the roster to go for it, but I think if we move Rantanen I would have just preferred a straight up retool like they did the last time and bring in the influx of youth that helped you win, again. I’m not sure Brock Nelson really moves the needle. Maybe they have one more move in the chamber.

The prices this trade deadline have been absurd. I saw someone make a reference to Martin Erat for Filip Forsberg when it comes to the Nelson trade and I see that exact same thing.

The big worry about Rantanen was that he had bad numbers away from Mac and wouldn't thrive elsewhere.

Puts up 2 goals and 6 points in 13 games after the trade (was also pretty quiet at the 4 nations).

Sell the farm for him!!!!

Brock Nelson was arguably the worst forward at the 4 nations for any team...

Sell the farm for him!!!!

Gourde just came back from hernia surgery after being out 2 months....

Sell the farm for him!!!!

Smart teams are going to grab useful pieces that are going to help their teams without killing the future. A lot of the "big names" look like pretty big gambles. They could all do well of course but i would be scared off of, just not the prices, but other things too with these guys.

The fact there Jones deal looks so "good" on the hopes the change of scenery will improve his game shows what a clown show it is out there.

You don’t want or need any of those guys when you have Domi Dewar Kampf Holmberg Timmin Benoit Matthews Nylander Myers in your starting lineup.
