If the Leafs don't plan on making the Conference Finals, then it is a complete waste of a 2nd.

We are not a team making these moves to win one round. We are making these moves to win a Cup.

Dubas said he would not move a 1st for a rental. He might as well have done that if he made this move.

And that is an overpayment for Fleury. MIN is just really desperate because this is their all-in year, and you have to think that maybe they look at a guy like JT Miller or someone who can play 2C for them instead of Frederick Gaudreau too.
If we believe the Leafs were in on MAF and Hagel, then to see a team give up a 2nd, which is nothing to Kyle, this one makes little sense not to be in on.

Of course, the part about upgrading to a 1st with a CONF final appearance is a wrinkle. And, of course the Leafs would add him believing/hoping he'd get the Leafs there.

The reason for my disappointment is this is something we allegedly wanted to do but Tampa swooped in on Hagel nullifying the deal. The Wild came in and scooped up the other half. Looking at what we have, it's horrifying, for a team who talks about doing great things.

If you asked me if I'd give up a 1st for MAF, I'd say that I wouldn't, but looking at what we have in net would give me pause to consider. We shouldn't be in a position to have to do these things, but here we are.

not the carousel but the direction of the entire franchise continues...rebuild retool or revamp or recharge whatever you wanna call it but wilson is confusing everyone

Does Wilson have a life time contract with that team?

I say Leafs go after Reimer if they retain.

I'm OK with Campbell, he just needs to refocus. I also wonder if this rib was bugging him during that slump?
I wonder as well, you almost have to think so. Didn't seem like anything was wrong the last game he played, just all of a sudden "rib injury". Maybe just a decision to get right now because it wasn't working out playing through?

Makes me laugh that the Chicago Blackhawks wanted franchise altering first round picks and Matthew Knies involved for MAF from Toronto’s but end up moving him for a conditional 2nd rounder in conference.
Can't blame them for trying.

Over/under on the amount of goalies moved today in any type of transaction? ;)

the leafs do have tendency to hide things a lot so i wouldnt be surprised if he has been battling with it for a long while to the point where they couldnt hide it anymore.

It was also Hagel and taking on MrAeks contract. That’s different than just Fleury

He was playing poorly before the injury, so the injury can't be the excuse for all of his poor play. I'd love to think that he was just bad because he was hurt, but that doesn't appear to be the case. If he's Bad Jack, the Leafs are toast. If you're the GM, are you really trusting he's going to be the guy he was a few months ago? Maybe, he thinks Gio and Blackwell will make Jack's job easier and he really doesn't need to go out for a #1 but seeing that we were in on MAF before the Hagel deal, leads me to believe Kyle does not trust Jack. Why else would you be attempting to add Fleury if you did?

Pretty sure it was reported that Fleury wouldn't waive for T.O. so it doesn't matter anyway

That part doesn't matter, but what does matter is Kyle wanted to do it. That part can't be brushed off so easily. If Kyle wanted to do this he doesn't trust what he has, meaning it is likely he will do something before the deadline. Harri Sateri cannot be it.
