Ouch.

« Habs will not make the playoffs, will end up drafting 14th, will not have liquidated its UFA assets in a market that strong sellers’ market BUT...All locker room buddies will be happy!

that is a sentiment out there.... I think they were ready to move on from Evans and might have gotten a haul - and then basically played Suzuki and a bunch of maybes ...

time will tell if Hughes' faith is rewarded

I would have liked to see them move those guys as well but tough message to sell to the players who have pushed us into playoff contention. Sometimes team culture is more important than draft picks and asset management

Any chance Dvorak, Savard, Armia, or Pezz return on team friendly deals? Got to think all 4 are gone come July 1st
I think there's a chance both Savard and Armia come back - but it will be take it or leave it offers and at lower amounts...

Armia maybe 2 years at less than Evans and Savard 1 year to be a 7th D and mentor / player coach before retiring

News flash !!! Kent rewards his guys by not trading anyone but also not getting them any help.

Glad we have braves who will criticize the lack of planning. Now if they could put the finger on the injury by saying Molson caused all that crap by going public with "The Mix" thing, that would be a bullseye. Without it, you don't have a GM making silly promises to the locker room.

Cozens has Dach vibe written all over.
Zegras has Drouin ....

If McCann Can go back to Center I would be tempted
Cozen is as different of a player as you can imagine vs Dach.
I would love to see a Leafs first round exit and Marner not extending.
Well, if you hate the leafs real bad, hope that Marner extend. It will be too much money for too many years. He's an incredible 2-way players, bu
So now that Kent acknowledges we need a 2C in public, what does that make Dach?

A winger? Tradebait?
Dach is the one with the answers. Meanwhile, they will shop for a C. If Dach get its shit together, he may end up a top 6 winger.

*Center shooting left.

Armia if the asks are reasonable. I don't really see it for the other 3.
I'd be happy with Armia at 2.25 x2. Not sure if he would take that but his play this season and value on the PK has earned it. At the same time, Kapanen, Roy, Beck, Heineman, Demidov are all looking for a bigger role next season

People who comment online belittling the impact of team morale and wellbeing on performance and retention, on top of it in favour of inconsequent assets, have clearly never managed shit in their lives.

Please tell me how it's obvious when he said that PRIOR to the 4-nations they were talking of selling, and after those 5 games they decided not to? Frankly, we are almonst saying the same thing. You keep saying how he is consistent, I'm just saying that those 5-game stretch aren't enough to decide which way to go. Boston is 2 points down for us. But they are 2-6-2 in the last 10 games. So...they decide to sell. I mean....I guess Boston did go the direction they went ALSO based on a few games too? It happens? Whether I agree or not...it's just a matter of opinion. But isn't it also obivious that while Hughes did decide to stay put because of the last stretch, that Boston did decide to go the other way for the same reason?

And the reward things is also curious....I don't think you really reward a group who works hard by staying put...you give them some help. We have 1 forward extra who can' tplay in the NHL. And unless Guhle is ready, no d-man extra unless we strip Laval from their best players.

I would have rewarded them differently.

KH is still the man to have with this team. I'M just not a fan of his deadline approach. But he will have the draft and this summer to fix things.
Boston went the way they went because the GM knows the team is crap. And they aren't on the rise like the Canadiens. They need to start a rebuild.

Any help would have been fine. Instead you have Beck playing 7 minutes a game. Even if it was a winger and put Newhook at center as a stopgap until summer.
We can get "any help" in the offseason when you don't have to "look bad" by letting UFAs walk away that you didn't intend on keeping anyway, and/or other teams didn't want to give anything useful for.

What you talking about, we only have 12 draft picks. Who cares about demoralizing the team in a playoff race, we need more third rounders!!!

We're not talking about the offseason and you know that.

OH and I agree. Been a long time since I said they sohuld start a rebuild. But they are still just 2 points behind us. But mostly....they were insanely struggling in the last stretch.

By the way, us selling Dvo, Armia and Savard would change nothing as far as how on the rise we are. You could eventually get all those 3 back if you want.

I believe Armia wants to stay so I would offer him a 1 year contract and tell him if things go well he will get another con tract.

I wanted to see what the team could do without Savard, bottom pairing dmen and Armia, bottom 6 forward for the reminder of the season since they won’t be with the team next year.

If the team would have fold like a cheap tent, then this would have been a sign the team is a lot further than most people think and the early draft picks and prospects we would have ended up with from the trade, helpful for the rebuild.

Huge missed opportunities by management.

Yes but you would give up on the season. Can't do that to the players when the majority have worked hard all season.
