Contingency for what? You're stuck until the Rantanen trade goes through, you can't load up on the side because if the main trade fail, you're f***.

? contingency planning means you have plans in place for a number of possible scenarios, so that you can act quickly and decisively as the environment changes.

IF...Then
For as many scenarios as required to be confident you can avoid the worst case scenario.

Well, for one, I did say IF Rainmaker replaces Matheson, and IF Laine is not seen as a good fit. You can ignore conditions all you want, but you're still ommiting them.

You're also precluding Habs will make the playoffs when they could easily have an off-year with too many injuries, but yeah go ahead and reduce away if it can raise your ire. Maybe go buy a punching bag?
Half of your post isn't even about the team, but i'm the one who's mad. Oh the projection . Maybe you should go and cool off.

Not expecting them to make the playoffs as their schedule is not easy.

But I do expect them to stay in the battle for a spot for at least the next two weeks.

I do not care where they finish for a draft choice because I maintain they won’t draft in the first round this summer; they will trade both picks. Tis the summer to rumble.

I think they played it smart here standing pat. The team got itself back into a playoff race, let them ride it out and see if they can sneak in. Who gives a crap if we didn't sell Savard and Armia, it's not like we're missing out on a major return. We've got picks galore.

I'm perfectly happy to deal both 1sts and more at the draft for established help at center and defence. No more reclamation projects, just good players.

That's a pretty brutal self own...

If I'm the owner of that team, I'm not keeping that guy employed long
It was stupid. Should have just kept Rantanen if the other trades he was looking at were gone by the time a contract was reached. And should have given a deadline for Dallas to sign him,

I didn't ask for the definition of contingency, I asked how do you use contingency when the other moves you want to do can only be done when Rantanen is off your team?

Half my posts are jokes. People who joke aren't mad. Completely illogical. Stop projecting and go buy a punching bag.

Notwithstanding the fact your ad hominem is a poor crotch in lieu of actual counter-arguments. You did reduce what i said, you did preclude we'll make the playoffs.

The effort they are being "rewarded" for, isn't the 5-game post 4 nation's effort, it's the whole season. That's pretty obvious, no?
Please tell me how it's obvious when he said that PRIOR to the 4-nations they were talking of selling, and after those 5 games they decided not to? Frankly, we are almonst saying the same thing. You keep saying how he is consistent, I'm just saying that those 5-game stretch aren't enough to decide which way to go. Boston is 2 points down for us. But they are 2-6-2 in the last 10 games. So...they decide to sell. I mean....I guess Boston did go the direction they went ALSO based on a few games too? It happens? Whether I agree or not...it's just a matter of opinion. But isn't it also obivious that while Hughes did decide to stay put because of the last stretch, that Boston did decide to go the other way for the same reason?

And the reward things is also curious....I don't think you really reward a group who works hard by staying put...you give them some help. We have 1 forward extra who can' tplay in the NHL. And unless Guhle is ready, no d-man extra unless we strip Laval from their best players.

I would have rewarded them differently.

KH is still the man to have with this team. I'M just not a fan of his deadline approach. But he will have the draft and this summer to fix things.

So now that Kent acknowledges we need a 2C in public, what does that make Dach?

A winger? Tradebait?

My guess, a 3C next year and then tradebait when he becomes an RFA. You won't get anything for him right now. The only spot available next season up front is that 2C spot. Pretty big hole that needs to be filled. Hughes has some work cut out for him this summer. Just stay away from free agency
