@Miller Time Okay, here's what he said.....word for word in french.

Word for word in french, feel free to translate on your side instead of me doing it and actually taking things out of context to fit a narrative....
makes sense and reading between the lines, Hughes made the calculation that they needed to keep Evans - with no one else on the roster but a UFA Dvorak, a broken Dach and suzuki. Keep in mind, that it was a take it or leave it offer and Evans reconsidered.

I think the other calculation was that Hughes felt he owed Suzuki a solid after he approached him and asked to keep the band together. He didn't have to, but he did. He probably looked at the deals and thought he has tons of picks and doesn't need any more vs a nice playoff run by keeping the room intact. It's that simple.
We could've used a Cozens for sure, but who was our equivalent? There was none. Norris is a very similar player. around the same age, former 30 goal scorer, underperforming etc ..
He might've dangled Dach if he was healthy.

I think he also knows that all 3 UFAs really want to come back and he can extend them until June and beyond if he really wants to.

Some Leaf fans upset about losing Minten. What's so great about this guy anyway?

Seems most teams have Minten type prospects. Is he even a better prospect than a Beck or Kapanen? I don't think so but some may think so I guess.

I would have traded Armia for a 2nd.

Looking at the trades made today, that's likely the only move they missed out on. Don't think there was much interest in Dvorak or Savard.

Talks about being a buyer and acquiring 2C were always extremely silly. Not the time or place for that.

I think what Habs looked at is are they better off with the 2nd round pick or are they better off keeping Armia, who is key piece of the league's 6th best PK?

That’s the price of a top line C!

This is why you can’t bring back any of the 3 high salaries. Pezzetta is flammable as MSL won’t play him so give someone else a chance.

I disagree, heading into the deadline I don't think most people expected much, but once it started and we saw the outrageous prices mediocre players were getting, expectations changed.

For some.

Others saw the 11 out of 12 points post 4 nations and expectations changed there too.

Ignoring the fact we don't know what offers there may have been, Montreal didn't need to add picks or prospects for their rebuild. More would have been nice, but the front office, rightly or wrongly, decided rewarding the players by not selling was worth more. I think that may be a mistake, but not nearly the level of mistake some people here seem to think.

Better then Kapanen but in the same caliber of Beck in my eyes

Hughes is so proud of the guys for this 5 game stretch, but not proud enough to add a good young player in Zetterlund to roll a Laine-Newhook-Zetterlund line so he wants to keep Beck there for 5 minutes a game.

yall are raging so hard from something so minor, it's not the end of the world if we didn't move those guys. maybe nobody wanted them....go and take a breather and chill out

Nobody is raging, go back to Twitter or Reddit, if you can't handle a discussion.

Worse players were traded and it was reported that the jets were interested in Savard. KH said that he did not trade anyone, to reward the team...

Savard and Dvo are likely gone. Armia returns at a discount as previously reported. He likes it in Montreal and wants to stay.

Habs add Demidov and Reinbacher next season.

HuGo said they will still try to trade a 2c. Then we don't know what depth they could add via UFA

Caufield Suzuki Slaf
Laine Dach* Demidov
Anderson Newhook* Heineman
Armia Evans Gallagher*

Hutson Matheson
Guhle Carrier
Reinbacher Xhekaj
Struble

Montembault
Dobes

* are players I think they try to upgrade on next year.

The habs are year 3 in a rebuild fighting for a playoff spot. They have several tradable assets and will add a potential star winger next year. People are so hyberbolic.

And I'm not even counting possible surprises from Tuch, Beck, Davidson, Kapanen, Mailloux from cracking the line up next year.
