I don’t hate it….we have a lot to look forward to and the real impact moves will happen during the off-season
But that’s the thing....all the big names moved or re-signed or signed extensions.

Who’s left for the summer besides some over the hill vets like Duschehe looking to use Montreal cash in one last time?

Makes little sense to trade a 2nd for a player who doesn't have a spot on the habs next season. And I doubt he would return a 2nd if you try to trade him again in the summer.
Why would he not have a spot on the Habs next season? So if Zetterlund wouldn't return a 2nd in the summer, do you think we'd have to add the Flames 1st to move Newhook who's very clearly an inferior player?

Jesus some people are whiny lmfao

Its okay to be disapointed but jesus christ you'd think we traded Demidov for a 5th.

Its fine to do nothing now but there won't be any excuses not to improve the team this summer. And I'm not talking abkut adding depth players only. Hughes will have to cough up some of our assets to improve our 2nd line.

And really, it's just 1 legit top 6 player we need to add

Slaf Suzuki CC is a good -soon-to-be great first line.

Add a legit top 6 C with 2 of Laine, Demidov, Newhook, Dach, and that should give us a very good 2nd line.

Slaf Suzuki CC
Laine Malkin Demidov
Newhook Evans Dach
Anderson *Beck Gally/Heineman

Giddy up

Re-sign Dvorak 1-2yrs at less than 2.85M if he'll take it and keep Beck/Kapanen in Laval playing top 6 pro roles and injury call up.

Who started the Hoes Mad meme? It's a good one.

I made this one:

Laine, Newhook, Dach are not top 6 players on a serious NHL team

I personally don't think selling the players was the bad move for low picks. The team deserved to stay together. That being said, a little help I'm sure would have been welcomed. Obviously the 2nd line center would have been tough, but at least get a capable winger and use Newhook as a stop gap until summer. You're 1 point out and you worked for it all season, so missing by a point or a couple, I'm sure will be devastating.

PS. If we sold players, I'd hate to see X cry like that little bitch Tkachuk lol

Thank God KH didn't acquire anyone. People are so impatient. Just because Suzuki, Caufield and Hutson have been carrying the team does not mean you throw away Hage and 1st rounders for that famous 2C (because that would have been the price).
His mess up was acquiring Dach. 2 wrongs do not make a right.
I swear people would be happier if the Habs had done shitty trades instead of staying put.
I’m not mad at that. It’s dumb to not pick up depth. Dach isn’t coming back, which means Beck is their 2C??? The second line hardly plays. Beck doesn’t belong in the nhl right now. What happens if they make the playoffs? Beck stays up, Laval suffers a bit. Makes no sense.

Nobody is mad about not getting Cozens , no help for a push no help to replace beck on the second line even if it was a cap dump for the rest of the season

Called the no man's land

Idk, seen some people upset about not getting a 2C today and the only one that somewhat fit that bill would have been Cozens. The truth is that we're not sellers anymore and there weren't many guys available that fit the long term plan.

I get the whole no man's land thing but that is exactly the kind of year we expected at this stage of the rebuild to be honest. We are a no man's land team right now but shouldn't be for long. Id rather forego adding to the roster right now and instead hold on to our assets and continue to build in the summer when a lot more guys are available and prices aren't so high.

It has NOTHING to do with objectivity. It has everything to do with familiarity with the player you are acquirng.

Do they not have pro scouts? Is that not still a bias if you have this much of a blindspot for non Quartexx clients?

Presumably every GM has players they are more and less familiar with, they're just not concentrated under one agency.

Well I think Ufas are even worse than TDL prices. Also the Ufas are awful. You don't build teams with ufas. Unless we somehow get a ppg player.

I just think they could have gave help to The AHL put beck for a playoff run in Laval.
Dvorak Evans and Beck is not it. People will ask why Laine is invisible outside the PP well matched with Newhook and Beck , the hell you want him to do.

Sam Bennett is going to be UFA. :naughty:

Savard is done, if we re-sign him, it will be worse than not trading him today.
Which is irrelevant to the point I was making. He's helping us maintain our position of being in the mix, and being in the mix is good for the development because you learn what it takes to win by playing in must win games.
