We should have been all over this. You are totally right. Steal by Ottawa. And we had pieces for San Jose as well to make it even better for them.
I get the abundance of wingers, but Newhook could be sent to the sun if it meant Zetterlund, and Zetterlund is young and versatile enough to be a key bottom 6 guy in the future.

How someone can compare the Boston situation to Montreal situation is beyond me.

Really surprised with the general reactions in here to be honest.

As usual, lots of hot takes & emotional posts because some didn't get the short term shiny toy they badly wanted.

Fascinating how hard it is for to separate emotions from reasoning, but I guess that's what being a fan is for some... Hope for them that it's at least enjoyable to ride that emotional rollercoaster lol

Thank God KH didn't acquire anyone. People are so impatient. Just because Suzuki, Caufield and Hutson have been carrying the team does not mean you throw away Hage and 1st rounders for that famous 2C (because that would have been the price).
His mess up was acquiring Dach. 2 wrongs do not make a right.
I swear people would be happier if the Habs had done shitty trades instead of staying put.

I'm not mad at the no trades from Hughes. He's given the team a reward for getting back in the mix, it's up to them to see what they do with it.

Guys like Dvo, Armia, Savard, etc would all bring in picks anyways, Habs don't need futures so might as well roll with what you got and give the boys one last dance together. We all know what can happen when an underdog bubble team bands together and overcome the odds.

Hughes booting it forward to the summer. Likely some of the discussions today laid the groundwork for future deals:

Kent Hughes: "I've called some teams about players. I won't mention names because they're very good players and good prospects. Those are things we'll look at more this summer."

So let's sit on our hands, maybe a #2c will fall from the sky...

It won't fall from the sky, it doesn't mean it's okay to jump head first into Cozens. We have time to do better than that.

We need to take everything we can get, this team is not in a position to lose players for nothing. It's a bad move.

So, you do nothing to help the team, or Laval.

You see teams you're competing with go out there and do things they think improve their team and instead of taking that as a sign to buy, or sell, you chose to sit there and do nothing.

You can't bring Savard back, as you need to improve places.

You can't bring Armia back, as you need to improve and you're running the same team back.

So, like what the f*** did you do all day ? Just keep telling yourself you're a good GM because you didn't trade a popular player who has no future here and replace them with a random scrub for a 7th ?
sometimes the best move is to do nothing.
