To defend Hughes, the priority they set this year is for the Rockets to go deep in the playoffs and for the Habs to be in the mix.

Getting help for the Habs in a 2C in this sellers market would likely require trading prospects in the system wither hurting the Rocket or other future prospects.

Made sense to do nothing.

Im ok with this

I am not sure I agree with this.

HuGo have been saying all year that they want to be in the mix and play competitive games. Theyve also been saying several times that they will not just moving expiring contracts for the sake of picks. They are more interested in using what they have in assets in getting nhl players.

They have been consistent and transparent all year long.

They expected the team to be in the mix. They are.

They said they wouldnt trade expiring contracts if they were, they didnt.

I am not sure why everyone is shocked.
Andy. It's not an opinion anymore. KH said it. Today. 15 minutes ago. My point before was that we are changing our strategy based on the games after the 4-nations. I was told no. KH Just said he did.

Holy shit! Marchand to Florida.

Carlo to Toronto.

Bruins are tearing it down!
Not really. They kept McAvoy and Pasternak their two important players. Unlike us they are not stupid. They know the games they win is because of those two and no because of the other guys. They did what they had to do before it's too late unlike the Pens.

The boys didn't want a sell off and played to get what they wanted. You can't really reward that with "too bad" and expect to not be a Buffalo/Ottawa tier crapfest long term. Even if they fall off in the next 20 games you can't really say a 2nd round or 3rd round pick is worth destroying the team culture where 90% of the guys have signed team friendly discounts in the last few years.
What team friendly discounts? Gallagher? Armia? Anderson?

Caulfield Suzuki and Slaf were all paid market value at the time before anyone knew the cap was going up - they didn’t take discounts

It’s not like we had a Marchand who we were on the fence about trading - it was Armia, Dvo, Evans and David f***ng Savard - all guys who do not move the needle at all other than provide a warm body
