I really like Ryan O'Reilly but I dont believe KH would pay the price for him. It's probably a 1st + a top prospect.

Rantanen seeking a Draisaitl contract without being anywhere near the caliber of player. Take the 13 million/year or you’ll regret it.
Doesn’t seem to be about money with the Canes and Stars. All indications are that it’s kind of quick to make such a decision of choosing where to essentially end your career.

I get it. Lifelong Avs player, traded out of nowhere. It’s a lot to digest in the middle of a season.

At this point, getting a 2c is the decision factor in whether they sell or not. Last few game have proven that without that 2C to have another offensive line, there are very little chances to make the playoff. At that point, may as well sell if the return is decent.

You get a 2c... then yeah, keep the UFA and push hard.

This depth of this draft must suck for the caliber of picks being traded for average players and sellers holding on to all their players to try and make a playoff push rather than sell.

I don't care much about trading Dvo or Armia if no one is offering at least a second. Savard is the guy I think is worth the 1st or 2nd though. Don't need to fleece the jets but a prospect would be better than a pick. I wonder if Yager is on the table for an extra throw in. Jets could theoretically win the cup. Send Armia over too.

Whatever just do whatever. We have so much draft capital that I don't think it matters if a trade doesn't materialize. Get overpaid or tell everyone f off.

Try to get Kulich out of them instead. Before they know what they got. Probably be cheaper anyway. He's got great shot, will be two way 30 goal scorer someday. At 6'1 he's center we need. Kulich left shot, only 20 in rookie season has 12 goals in 44 games playing fourth line minutes

They're not moving Kulich. He's actually their #1 C right now because Thompson can't take draws. Bad back.

This is like the 3rd season where the other centers after Suzuki are all 4Cs. I’d be pissed if I were him and we did nothing about it in the offseason.
Well they were giving Dach the chance to take that role but that ain't happening. He will be shifted to wings for various reasons.

Don't sleep on Beck, he isn't a 4th line center, he is an elite third line center.

The vision remains to grow with your young players.

If you are not willing to trade those young guys, chances are that you won't be able to play at trade deadline.

As for the veterans, most of the names I'm hearing are likely worth more to the team to play out the stretch drive than trading for yet more picks.

All signs to me point towards standing pat on a high level.
I think a trade for a rental for a couple of picks is possible

You really get to know posters at trade deadline. What a trainwreck of conflicting desires, panics, and impatience particularly from those who wanted to tank. The standards of success or failure being put forward are silly. Myself, sticking with same position I had in December. Happy we're making progress this year, expect better things next year, playoffs is a bonus if it happens. Don't understand urgency to do anything frankly. We wanted to jump about 7-10 points in the standings from last year and see improvements from our core. That has generally happened.

He's a 2 seasons fix, I'd be very happy with that . We have so many picks and prospects, we have to bite the bullet at some point. He's worth it for how helpful he'll be with Demidov next season alone.

My predictions:
Armia, Dvorak and Savard stay
Depth D man
Depth forward
Shore up Laval with a forward
Finally, a Monahan type trade to plug the hole at 2C and Beck goes back to Laval. Maybe Hughes finds a guy who’s dropped on the depth chart that a team wants to dump and he gets assets for taking him. With a lot of luck, we find another Monahan.

It's not a quality draft. You're drafting guys who in previous years would have gone late 2nd/early 3rd around 20 this year.

A lot of middle 6 forwards, 4-6 D, maybe.

People like being part of the excitement of the day. Standing pat, although boring as hell, is usually the best move (especially with prices this high -- remember the Marty Erat trade?)

I'm in complete agreement with your post but I understand why people want us to mix it up.

Sounds like the type of draft to pick the guy with Lane Hutson question marks with big talent.
