Worst hockey writer ever. If that script was spoken by a Teletuby it would match the target audience.
There are none. Selling Savard and Armia now for 2nd or 3rd round picks would be insulting to players who have fought through a lot to get back in the race. Imagine you're Josh Anderson, playing through multiple injuries every night only to have the front office capitulate.
Except he sucks... Hey, ideal target for tankingCozens is the ideal target for the Habs. Ideal age. Great potential but not at his peak value.
We could benefit from this one and we absolutely have the assets to make it happen.
The Sabres are a division "rival", so I'm not holding my breath but that would be nice!
When has cap space ever been an impediment to make such a small trade? That's an easy amount to work around for the right price. They have 300k in space.
i was gonna say a straight to amazon bond movie but they actually bought it so that’s gonna be all bond movies now lolLalonde looks like a villian in a cheap rip off of James Bond, called Games Dond
Caps last year
They were 5 points out by the deadline. They sold Mantha, Kuznetsov, Edmundson and made the playoffs. They are much improved this year too.
Well you are talking to someone who doesn't think we have a hope in hell of making the playoffs. The top 5 scorers on the team are going to be here long term. The rest of the team will be here mostly next year too when they add Demidov and Reinbacher. Of course trying for a run is important.
Wer already tried for a run. Anything that happens today wont change that. I'm honestly very surprised by the amount of people who think trading Armia and Savard and replacing them by Reinbacher and Davidson would make this team significantly worse. I bet you it would not change much. But we'll never know because we'll do what we did best for the last 30 years which is stay in no man's land and lose players for nothing. The top 5 scorers on the team are going to be here long term. The rest of the team will be here mostly next year too when they add Demidov and Reinbacher. Of course trying for a run is important.
Nah, if I'm Rantanen I sign a one year 17-18 million $ deal then sign an 8 year extension when the cap is at 100M. Teams like the habs for example would have the cap space to do it by putting Price on off season LTIR. Doesn't even need to sign with a team he wants to sign the extension with, just sign with a bottom feeder, get paid MAX cap, traded at next years deadline to a contender, then sign 8x14-15M. Would get WAY more money this way, now that he's no longer with COL he doesn't have allegiances to anyone.Rantanen seeking a Draisaitl contract without being anywhere near the caliber of player. Take the 13 million/year or you’ll regret it.

Let's hope they make the playoffs and see what happens. I will be happy to be wrong. You would lose that money. If this team makes the playoffs they would be coming in as one of the hottest teams in the league with a ton of momentum. I'd bet on them pulling the upset.
Last few games - they’ve gained ground in the playoff race.At this point, getting a 2c is the decision factor in whether they sell or not. Last few game have proven that without that 2C to have another offensive line, there are very little chances to make the playoff. At that point, may as well sell if the return is decent.
You get a 2c... then yeah, keep the UFA and push hard.
I think this is pretty accurate.I'm pretty our position is a diamond hands kind of approach. If you are willing to overpay for what we have we can make a deal. If not, then don't bother we'll just keep them.
You are not wrong, but not adding a 2c makes the hunt for the playoff a futile exercise. Can't win with only one offensive line and over-using Evans lines. Players can still play hard for the rest of the season without Savard and Armia...Selling Armia, Dvorak, and Savard means you've given up on trying to make the playoffs. When you are a young team learning how to win, trying to make the series, even knowing that winning the cup is a long shot, is still worth while experience.
Are a handful of 3rd and 4th round picks really worth not getting this team experience? I don't think so. The club is right on the cusp of a playoff position playing some good hockey. Unless someone is gonna pay 1sts for these players, I really just don't see the point.
The habs should really just focus on one type of trade, and that is a hockey trade for a centre.
The habs won't win the cup this year no matter who they add, but that isn't the point. There needs tobe a winning culture. You don't want to be Buffalo or mid 2010s Edmonton.
But you know where he wants to sign. It looks obvious to me: Florida or Vegas.I'm guessing Rantanen has his Stanley Cup and now just wants to get paid. A team like Utah can give him $14m easy. Ditto Columbus, Calgary, Anaheim, & Chicago. None Stanley Cup contenders but a shit load of cap.
