This team isn't a contender. The Kings didn't help their chances with this move nor did they address any needs.Dean should've been a seller if this is the garbage he was bringing in.Dean should've at lease bring in someone who can fill needs like a third line center and or LW for Kopi with term.Dean blew it again since 2015 and admits he doesn't know how to keep a contender together theu trades.

Deals didn't cost much of anything and they gained a 4th possibly a 3rd for a UFA they weren't going to sign. Overall a solid job of assessing where the team is at...

Santa Clarita native Shane Harper traded to the Devils (likely an AHL only move). One of two SCV guys who've played in the NHL.

That's exactly my point--he didn't do anything this deadline to jeopardize that. Unless you were one of like 10 people in the world to be insanely high on Cernak and thought he was going to pan out as soon as next year. He made small moves to potentially improve the current team to give them a shot--no move would have made this team an instant contender. So if you're mad at him for not having a contending team this year, sure, that's a valid concern--but being mad at him over these deadline moves is completely invalid as we've upgraded picks.

Bishop is Bishop. With so many back to backs and Quick's health, the reasoning was totally sound.

Iginla is maybe dead, maybe rejuvenated. Who knows? he's experienced, kind of an *******, and burns to win. That could rub off. And if it doesn't? We gave up literally nothing for him at 50%. What more can you do as a GM  and as vocal as I was against Iginla earlier in the year, for this value vs. picks and psopsects for trash like Stafford and PAP, this is a no brainer.

You didn't say anything like that

Yes i've,on many other social media lol You seem to assume stuff youre misinformed about .

It's one thing to say "trade Muzzin or Martinez" and a whole other to know what their actual value is.

Look at the trades that have gone down. Nobody was picking up a big haul.

DL can't just waive a wand and get Landeskog for Muzzin and a 3rd.

Traded Muzzin or Martinez. Not traded for Bishop or Iginla.

I would have liked trading Muzzin or Martinez for picks/draft prospect/expansion draft exempt roster player but that may have been waving the white flag. DL is clearly not ready to give up only 1 point out but that would have been good for this team.

* Clubs will have two options for players they wish to protect in the Expansion Draft:

a) Seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender

b) Eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goaltender

So if you go with Seven Forwards you can only protect Doughty, Muzzin, and Martinez. Then you protect Kopitar(nmc, you have to), Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, but who else? Dowd? (and Quick)

or you go with Eight skaters total, you protect Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, Toffoli, Carter, and Pearson. Now you get to choose between Dowd, Forbort, Shore, and I guess Mcnabb(idk why you'd protect Mcnabb or Shore). (and Quick)

if they had traded Martinez or Muzzin, you can Keep Dowd and Forbort both protected, Gravel is exempt. (so are Ladue and Kempe) Now you'd also have some cap space for locking up Toffoli and Pearson.(and Doughty soon after)

I feel like we'll be seeing a very active offseason leading up to the expansion draft, entry draft, buyout period and free agency.

Dean has to clear some space for Toffoli and Pearson's new contracts, and I think one of Muzzin or Martinez being moved and Gaborik being dealt or bought out might become a reality this summer.

Wouldn't be surprised if they dealt a number of assets to Vegas in order for them to do a favor for the Kings.

Sell who?

Maybe the Kings don't have what it takes to get what I will only assume you mean is a 1st line LW?

How is Iginla an Upgrade Over King? Playoffs: Iginla 83g 37g 31a King 69g 10g 15a THAT'S how.

Funny seeing him defend deans move lol but its true

I knew Dean was going to trade for Iginla! Good move! Considering the 4th was replaced in the Dwight King trade, we basically swapped King for Iginla. I'll take that all day.

I would have like to had Steve Ott. He would have added ruggedness and been great in the faceoff if the Kings make the playoffs.

Trading one of Muzzin/Martinez would have been a horrible mistake.

That would mean the Kings go 7-3-1 for the draft with Doughty, Forbort, and whomever was not traded out of Muzzin/Martinez being protected.

Then Vegas picks McNabb. Why? because that would hurt their geographic and division rival Kings the most. They are not going to do us any favors. So a blueline of Doughty, one of Muzzin/Martinez, and 3 current rookies plus an uncertain #6 spot is not one I have confidence in at all.

I'm fine with the moves DL made this deadline. He attempted to improve this season's club, without killing its' future. The team is better today than it was last week.

I'm sure moves will be made in the offseason that'll address the bigger picture going forward.

Exactly!

What an awesome photo. Time flies. How it flies.

It does. I remember saying if you told the league in 2009 that the 2014 Kings would have Gaborik, Kopitar, Richards, Carter, Regehr, Mitchell, etc. and a conn smythe winning goalie and top d-man in the league theywould have just forfeit three cups in a row. Add Iginla to that

Exactly. Dean has got his work cut out for him in the summer
