If you looked at the lineup at the start of the year and thought anything more than, "they are a borderline playoff team or just outside of it" even with Quick healthy, you were pretty delusional. Quick got injured and they are just outside the playoffs, now maybe they'll get back in but either way, I wasn't expecting much more. DL trapped himself in a corner, he can't punch out of this one, he's probably done after this year.

There are plenty of reasons to be upset with DL and I've been more pessimistic than most lately, but it sounds like people are inventing reasons to be outraged right now.

Okay, we need a 3rd line center and a winger for Kopitar. How do you propose DL get those two needs addressed at the trade deadline. Let's say we tried to get Landeskog, who is the top 6 winger to play with Kopitar, he would have cost us Kempe, LaDue, a 1st and I am sure more, if Colorado would even make that move. Would you make that deal? I wouldn't.

With respect to a 3rd line center, I doubt Boyle would have been much of an upgrade over Shore/Dowd we have now. Are there any players you are saying DL could have gotten but was too lazy or stupid to pull the trigger?

The Iginla and Bishop trades cost us very little, if the trades even cost us anything. If they work out, great. If not, its better than not making any trade.

The bigger trades happen in the off season. After the expansion draft, DL can possibly move Martinez in a package for a top 6 winger, but deals like that don't happen at the deadline.

Its fair to criticize DL for the moves he has made in the past with Lucic, not buying out Richards, etc., but I don't get the complaints about the deadline deals he recently made.

Purcell has been the best player on the Reign since he was send down, with Brodzinski being close. He is too good for the AHL. He needs to be with a crafty passer like Kopitar or Dowd to be effective. Not sure he was utilized correctly with his skillset on the Kings during his limited time. Might as well give him a chance since the team is not scoring consistently.

That's exactly my point--he didn't do anything this deadline to jeopardize that. Unless you were one of like 10 people in the world to be insanely high on Cernak and thought he was going to pan out as soon as next year. He made small moves to potentially improve the current team to give them a shot--no move would have made this team an instant contender. So if you're mad at him for not having a contending team this year, sure, that's a valid concern--but being mad at him over these deadline moves is completely invalid as we've upgraded picks.

Bishop is Bishop. With so many back to backs and Quick's health, the reasoning was totally sound.

Iginla is maybe dead, maybe rejuvenated. Who knows? he's experienced, kind of an *******, and burns to win. That could rub off. And if it doesn't? We gave up literally nothing for him at 50%. What more can you do as a GM and as vocal as I was against Iginla earlier in the year, for this value vs. picks and psopsects for trash like Stafford and PAP, this is a no brainer.
