Mayor saying Kings are done.

Via Mayor

No. Told they're done... unless some GM makes a crazy offer they didn't see coming.

What alternate universe have I entered where Dwight King is "gritty" and "very physical" all of a sudden?

AS expected there just wasn't a lot on the table the Kings could afford. I'm surprised they made any moves at all.

There's no point in moving Gaborik now.

Not that DL could. Not realistically anyway.

Most of the time, people have a general idea of a player. Who is watching every player, on every team, every season, shift by shift? Plus he's played for the Kings, and they've been gritty and physical in the past, so by the transitive property...

If you expect King to be something he's not, you'll be disappointed. There have been big guys that aren't overly physical, but are still physical. Just don't expect bone crunching hits from the guy. He is the definition of a grinder. When effective, that's how he uses his size.

My point about Iginla was is he is a pending UFA. If he wants to keep playing and doesn't want to retire, he'll have motivation to do more than what he did in Colorado this season with the Kings. No matter what, it's no sweat off the the org's ass.

Bad move by Lombardi.Either sell or go out and get the guy you need to improve the team.Glad he isn't signed for next year.

King is physical like Kopitar is physical. He's a load to move and just absorbs contact. That's tiring. Anyone thats' ever had to grind in the corners can understand that fully. SOmetimes it's not the guy taking runs that's wearing you out.

Kings hockey had all of the above in the cup years. Guys like Brown to crush you. Guys like King to eat contact.

PAP is soft as baby **** and is a bigger disappearing act than Vanish. BUt at least that's cheap.

Stafford is utter garbage too.

Who's "the guy you need"? Vanek? Vrbata? Parenteau? None of the forwards available change the complexion of this team. Duchene and Landeskog are still in Colorado as I type this.

I wish I could find the thread from a few months back where one Devils fan thought Parenteau was worth a '2nd, maybe even late 1st'. At least the Devils can play Beau Bennett at RW now.

Not sure I understand the Quincey for Prout deal for the Devils. I would have rather just let Quincey's contract expire rather than take on Prout who's signed through 2018. Albeit Pierre McGuire mentioned that Shero might have promised Quincey to move him.

Yzerman continues to be a magician (albeit he signed Filppula in the first place). Frees up cap space and opens up a protection spot for the expansion draft.

And what are you willing to give up for the "guy you need?"

You've to give to get. This team isn't close to being a contender, said last year and was right and still missing pieces.Dean needs to stop making dumpster fire trades that don't help this team.Iginla doesn't help this team.Team is slow and needed speed. You don't trade a 27 year old UFA for a 39 year old and slow UFA lol.Dean is afraid to make a deal that helps this team.Probably the best thing that can happen is unfortunately, the team misses the playoffs and Dean is gone.I'm glad Dean isn't signed for next season.Time to get Futa and Blake in there.

Iginla wants to win the Stanley Cup, at least once.

He has won the Maurice Richard Trophy for most goals and the Art Ross Trophy for leading scorer. He has scoring ability. He also has the right kind of attitude - a fierce competitor. He can reach back into his bag of skills and score some goals for the Kings! Welcome aboard, I say.

Lazar to the flames is interesting, honestly. Good defensive guy. Flames are gearing up pretty well tbh.
