His numbers, specifically power, suggest a downward trend that isn't going to get better hitting at Fenway somehow.

Yes he's still a GG 3B defensively, but that's just not a player you take on.

I don't mind a short term contract, but the kids will be ready either this season if not next. I would like to see them get a real chance to play. I agree the Sox could have had a better offseason, but at this point I'd rather they don't force an FA or trade.

Why does it seem as though an Arenado (salary retention offset) for Yoshida trade makes good sense for the Red Sox but I don't feel like there's much support for it? The trade would give the Sox a RH bat that they really need, options to use Arenado as a DH or 3B (to give Raffy a rest), maybe fill in occasionally at 1B (he's a good enough fielder to make the transition in spot use), and overall not really lose anything of importance with a Yoshida departure. I would get behind this trade 100%.
