So Poms got the biggest return of any other player at the deadline, including Iginla. Wow.

Yeah, I think the Wild got reemed. Hackett and Larsson would have been a fair deal. Adding their first and 2nd, that's bad. Pominville's a nice player, but he's 30 and expensive. Plus, he's only got 25 points in 37 games with an on-ice shooting percentage of 11.41 at evens. To put that in perspective, about a fourth of his even strength production is due to luck. He'd have about 20 points if it were normalized, and that puts him at barely a .5 PPG. Hell, to put that in perspective, Marleau has 1.66 even strength points per 60 to Pominville's 1.97 despite Pominville's 11.41% on-ice shooting to Marleau's 6.18%.

I think this Pominville trade sets the market for a potential Marleau/Thornton trade at the draft. A first and two blue chip prospects.

I'm having a hard time processing DW's logic. By moving Clowe, Murray, and Handzus he was pretty much saying the team isn't worried about the playoffs this year. Then he goes and wastes picks on Hannan, a defenseman they don't need in any way, even for depth; and Torres, someone I would call a dirt-bag if that wasn't such a massive insult to dirt-bags.

Without Hannan they already had 8 defensemen up (with Tennyson), and even if they kept Burns at forward for bit they had Petrecki who their assistant coach in charge of defense said "is ready" who could have stepped in as your extra D. Petrecki is an RFA after this year, and this would have been the chance to see if he can actually play a bit in the NHL or if it's time to move him.

If they wanted "toughness", they had Pelech and Gogol in the AHL. Or if they just wanted a bottom six forward they had McCarthy who is signed to a 1-way next year.

Neither of these moves make any sense and DW spending a 3rd on Torres just pisses me off. Not only is that ****** on my favorite team, but DW gave up a 3rd for my 2nd most hated player in the NHL (behind Bertuzzi).

What a fustercluck of a day on DW's part. Just adding Torres to this team is enough to ruin the slight goodwill he had built up yesterday.

One of theories floated....Wash has trades Filip Forsberg. If that's the case...return must be huge. #tradecentre

DW thinks the rear guard needs to have veteran savvy just in case. He doesn't feel the AHL kids can step up to playoff level which is understandable. And I dislike Torres as much as anyone, but he is far and away better than Pelech or Gogol. I mean, incomparably,
