Please, enlighten us on what makes Vrbata so terrible that he was the ONE guy you didn't want. He'd only be 2nd in points on the team, but I am sure you have clear reasons as to why he's the ONE.

I'm not suggesting to trade Gallagher for Vrbata, but if I'm Bergevin I'm putting him on the market just to see what's out there. 2 consecutive seasons with a serious injury, and we just signed Shaw 6 years which will do the same work as Gallagher. Again depending on the return I'd look into moving him.

The injury argument is invalid in my opinion though. Anyone would have been injured with these shots. Also did everything to come back ASAP. Gallagher is a guy I want on my team heading into the playoffs.

I`m going to say he is going to go for a 2nd pick, and a conditional 3rd or something of the sort. Unless De La Rose is part of the trade instead of that conditional pick.

Good point, but are we looking for more shut down, bottom 6 guys right now? Who are 40 years old and UFA at the end of the year? Why give something up for that? Doan is OK, but it would be a lateral move at best. Plus, for the role he would be used in, as a shut down guy, I think Plekanec is the smarter player, faster too.

There isn't really much left for offensive forwards the guy has been solid on an weak Arizona team. The guy would be a huge upgrade at this point for the Habs.

Like someone else posted, just because we don't get Duchene doesn't mean we lose on the day.
