Idiot GM looks pretty good now, Coburn for a 1st, 3rd and Gudas.

Boychuk for two seconds. Oh and the Bruins traded two seconds for Brett Connolly.

Glad he did his shopping then and not now.

Adding Michalek I am still for. Also, Trevor Daley from the Stars.

Wow. Can't believe Yz did that. Gudas looked pretty good and gritty. Add in the 1st and 3rd and he got hosed up and down. Seems everyone is in win now mode, though only 1 team will win the cup, theres gonna be a lot of losers this deadline.

Snow should throw Strait and Donovan out there tomorrow just for the hell of it. With the way these trades have been going you never know what you can get back. I'd happily take a 3rd for either one.

Definitely. Let's create a roster spot. Time to stop putzing around and get Pulock warm for the playoffs. :naughty:

We do have three regulars coming back so I wouldn't mind moving someone like Strait or Donovan if we got something of value back. I know we're a little thin in terms of defensive depth but really, any injury to our defense is going to be a big loss no matter if we're replacing that player with Strait, Donovan, Reinhart or Pulock.

If the idiot gm had his druthers the team youd see isn't the one currently iced. You'd see dan Boyle, Thomas Vanek, and brad richards...

I really am astonished the confidence some of you have with banking on a full value return this seSon from both grabo and okposo

I really don't get your (or anyone else's) hate of Snow and this is such a lame reason for hating the guy. He still had to go out and get Boychuk and Leddy. He still signed Kulemin and Grabovski and traded for Halak. At least give the guy credit for building a solid playoff team and making the future bright.

Don't need them to return to 100%. If they just return to 70% of what they were we'll be fine. And you can't just say having your first line right winger return isn't a big addition.

I think you'll see the Isles add Zidlicky to the bottom pairing for an ok price. Just have that feeling.

This is where the old aches wake back up - the "arms race" kicking off at the deadline, and the question of our team at its' current incarnation having the health/experience/extra X-factor to equalize. Given how the team's grown, I don't advocate giving up major pieces for rentals, but seeing the Caps and Rags galvanize their rosters makes me want to see a Scrivens, Michalek or surprise acquisition (Burns?) firm up the roster.

A lot of discontent in the St. Louis lockeroom. Let's bring in Zidlicky and Elliot and we can call it a day.

I know our GM has a plan, stay the course. I just feel like we are being passed by.
4-5 of our conf rivals have gotten better . Even trading strait or Donovan for a pick will not help that.
Zidlicky sounds good , but for what? 1 or 2 good prospects we don't have the picks to give.
Not trading the top 4 prospects. Who do we have after them? Mayfield? Petrov? Lol. Would you trade grabner for Zidlicky?
Would it be enough? Too much.
Looks like we might just stay the course

Like some have said, and those I find to be more rational, the islanders made their moves in the off season. Adding Halak, Boychuck and Leddy were huge moves. We moved our assets to get those guys.

Instead of waking up to open your gifts Christmas morning we did it the weekend before because that was when grandma would be in town.

I'm fine not making moves at the deadline seeing as how we have made major ones to get us into the position we are in now and didn't deplete the pipeline.

I was a huge Snow supporter until he traded Nino.

Than he gets Vanek and that was the last straw.

Since than he has redeem himself with the trading part and he does great always with the draft.

Now I like the free agents he brings in and I credit him for good solid waiver moves.

But the fact we have Chad for two more years is another strike.

Also getting Halak was a no brainer move. I wouldn't call Snow some kind of magician.

Goalies are in supply and we had none.

He should have gotten a goalie last season or before that.

Someone like Bernier, Khudobin, or Ramo.

That's on him solely as a GM.
However not getting a goalie help us tank and get MDC and Ho Sang.

The only draft pick I didn't like was Reinhart but I don't hate it either.

In the end I used to love Snow now I really like him but don't trust him.

Vanek and Nino were panic moves.

One thing I love about Snow are the type of players he brings in and ships out.

For instance, people go ga ga for goals and Moulson scored plenty but he is slow and one dimensional.

PP also flawed. Gone.

Andrew Mac and Streit. Smart moves

Leddy and Johnny.

Like every Gm some good and some bad.

His positives out weigh the negatives by a lot.

But the Vanek deal to me really hurt his reputation. If he was resigned than I'd be singing a different tune.

Instead he traded a lot for a rental when we had no shot at the playoffs.

And he felt he could be an Islander for life which makes little sense.

All Snow had to do was some better research on the player.

I really fully support Garth but I'm still waiting for him to pull off a robbery like the Seguin or Forsberg deal to truly trust him again like before.

Not true. Yes, I am aware that the Islanders reportedly offered deals on all of those players. I am sure they offered deals on other players too. The market is constantly shifting. One move begets; or not, another move. Had the Isles signed Boyle they may have still traded for Boychuck and Leddy. If Vanek signed with the Isles he may have put up better numbers then he is now. Isles may have then focused on other depth players in place of Kulemin. Isles could have very well have been better than they are now as much as they could have been worse.

But, If one has held Snow accountable for the Isles record at the end of each season; then he must be held in the same accountability at the end of for this year... Not on the possible roster moves that were never made.

I wouldn't be opposed, but what assets do we have? We don't have a 1st or 2nd this year. Would have to think Zidlicky costs at least a 1st or 2nd, and maybe another pick considering what other players have cost already.

Have a funny feeling that Isles are in on Phaneuf. Detroit has the edge though, if they're willing to part with Mantha.

Still think Garth has something up his sleeve.

Have you seen the prices teams are paying??

No chance the Isles can afford to make the moves.

Pretty amazing how Sather keeps pulling off these trades. Never impressed by Duclair. Yandle is a very good offensive dman and you just know the Rags will find a way to re-sign him.
