I'm pretty sure he hasn't backed off his trade request. At this point I'd trade Robertson for an RFA in his situation or a pick

He's not good enough to be a pain in the ass
Robertson (assuming big brother is resigning / little Robo signs a cheap ish deal ) and Carlo for Bourque and something ?

I don't like how it's still being implied that Matthews might request a trade. I hope the management isn't living in denial like previous regimes. I'm starting to believe that the leafs might still trade Matthews based on how the next 2 weeks go. Basically, add young guys that Matthews doesn't love and trade him or add young guys that he's interested in and keep going.

Rielly, Carlo, Robertson and Maccelli are probably my top trade targets this offseason

I like Robertson but with Knies, Cowan and likely McKenna he might get squeezed out. That said if he can play the right side that’s not bad
Depends on other trades and UFA signings... If he can be talked into staying here, I'd keep Robertson unless a trade offer comes along where he can be packaged for a good center or defender.

Our top 6 looks good, but our bottom 6 looks dreadful. If you trade him, we have pretty much zero scoring depth.

Robertson isnt going to be an elite winger by any stretch, but I think he's had the shortest leash of any forward the past several years. Giving him some decent 3rd line minutes consistently and 2nd PP time for a full year with an actual decent coach and I could easily see him put up 40+ points this year. Which would be great for our offensive depth.

Knies - Matthews - Nylander
McKenna - Tavares - Cowan
Xxx - xxx - Robertson

While most of our assets need to focus on our defense, we could really use a good 3C as well. Intrigued by Hayton and Wright.

I'm 100% sure that Maccelli will sign a below QO extension. I have similar belief on Robertson.

By the way, I'm not sure it's even a good idea to dump these RFAs when the cap is going up so much and their QOs are relatively low.

I don't think it's being implied at all. If anything, all of that talk has completely died off.

Then why is his name still being mentioned with the likes of Larkin and Hellebuyck?

If the rumour of Matthews announcing the 1OA pick is real then I might relax.

If you were GM would you do Kaprizov's deal * 7?

If he is the real deal, is he worth the same coin as Kaprizov?

No, I wouldn't do 17M x 7 because what discount are you getting on the RFA years? Also, it would create the same problem where everyone who signs is going to compare to that 17M.

They can even bridge him for a 3-4 year deal to retain RFA status and mitigate the risk, but if he breaks out the price goes up.

I would be surprised if no one thinks about offer sheeting looking at all the records he broke on his way to the NHL and thinking what he could be if he hits his potential.
