Wonder what teams in the West would want Rielly? I can see San Jose, Anaheim, Calgary, LA, Edmonton, Winnipeg as potential fits.
Just today, actually, I was wondering about a Morgan for Morgan trade there, Rielly for Frost, probably with some extra from our end. They don't have the best group of LDs, Maatta, Bahl, Kuznetsov, and Hanley, and a fast 3rd line center is needed here.

Given all the capspace we have I'm not pressed to move Rielly provided you're willing to sit him if he's not among our best 6 dmen out of camp. But if loyalty would force you to play him regardless of performance then move him.

There is 0 chance u can dress 6 better Dman than Rielly. There is no team in the league where Rielly isn't on the teams top 6

With Ross Colton gone, another player of similar caliber I would target...Ryan Hartman. Minnesota has to clear cap-space for Hughes and even Dylan Larkin or Trochek (who they are targeting)

Gavin McKenna - Auston Matthews - XXX
Mathew Knies - John Tavares - William Nylander
Boone Jenner - Ryan Hartman - Eason Cowan
Dakota Joshua - Colton Sissons - Lorentz/Marlie

Minny currently is projected today to have 45 million in cap space the year Quinn's extension kicks in so even if they added Larkin and gave up nothing off there roster and Quinn took Minny to the cleaners on his contract and signed for 20 mill per year Minny would still have 16 million in cap space for 7 players, now if Quinn signs for 14-15 per year now they have 21-22 million in cap space still. so don't know why Minny needs any cap space.

also Ryan is one year from being a UFA so he isn't even an issue for creating room when Quinn's extension kicks in as they can just let him walk if need be. it would be more a Foligno who would be a cap casualty imo. the biggest reason Ryan might be available is the fact that he's going into his final season of his contract before coming a UFA. but as a team going for the cup they probably bring him back looking to try and win and let him walk vs trading him for picks/prospect.

I think Calgary is the early favorite to be the worst team in the league next season why would Rielly waive to go there?

It's an interesting point; it hasn't stopped the Vancouver speculation, and they're likely going to be just as bad. Maybe just getting out west is enough?

What playoff-possible team would want him? San Jose is thrown out a lot, but with Orlov and Dickinson, I think they would want a more defensive option with them (Nurse), with Ferraro likely leaving.

I've obviously read the Canucks speculation alot on here as well and for the same reason don't see why he would waive.

it doesn't need to be a playoff team but it could be a team on the rise at least, SJ is an obvious example thats beaten to death on here but Anahiem could maybe have interest if Carlson walks, LA needs a puck mover besides Clarke, Winnepeg could use a Dmen, not sure the Rangers plan but they could use a puck mover, if Tampa loses Raddysh maybe they have interest tho inside division, same for Boston could use a puck mover, Minny could use a puck mover for there 2nd pair behind Hughes. maybe Washington sees the need to replace Carlson's puck moving ability.

With Nemec, it comes down to a simple question, can he figure out the defensive side of the game? Offensively, I think he’s ready to be a very good D man now, with the right opportunity. But, he hasn’t figured out how to defend. However he’s only 22, so he’s got time to grow.

He struggles with bad pinches and puck retrieval under pressure. His zone exit success is around 98%, the vast majority being skating the puck out of the zone, which is exceptional.

He’s got some great strengths when you look at him, including good hockey IQ. He’s not very physical, nor is his skating speed very good, but his edge work exceptional.

Nemec is the kind of guy whom you need to have really good defensive coaches in your organization. Like a Jake Muzzin. If you can teach him how to play D at any decent type of level, as well as help him with his skating speed.

I think the cost might price us out of an acquisition, but this is the type of potential home run, buy low player we should be aiming for.

I think its time for him to go, I love Mo but he's a flawed player on a big ticket with plenty of term still on it and I think weve seen a decline in his play

I dont think we can risk not moving him at this point

He needs to be sheltered and let's be honest, most of our guys are fighting to keep there heads above water as is

Seems to be their cap structuring for McDavid next year. I don’t think they’ll go all in on big UFA deals but they will certainly add.

They're clearing enough room that I think they're going to take a swing at a bigger add this summer, even via trade like in the Hamilton-Petterson type range. Though I'd agree they'll look to keep things flexible enough for a bigger fish in future, be it McDavid or someone else next summer.

The problem has often getting the zone out of the puck, which he’s elite at. Yes, he’s a gamble, and wouldn’t be cheap, but he’s also the type of guy who could end up being very good.
He's got one massive flaw though, he can't or won't defend and he's already 22, I'd have hoped the bulb would have flippd by now

If Hawks is serious about getting player(s) for their 4OA.

I can see Nucks trading Hronet and DeBrusk with one of their late 1st rounder for Hawks 4OA esp if Sharks draft Reid.

Wish Leafs can have a similar package but we just don’t.

They probably wouldn't have interest. Those are win now type of guys because of their ages.

With thr continued talk about trading Knies, I'd only even consider it if the name coming back the other way was a stud center or a #1 defenseman. The list is pretty short for me. A couple names:

Robert Thomas
Denton Mateychuk
Thomas Harley

I'd maybe consider something like Filip Hronek if I could find a way to get Braeden Cootes to the deal.

If the Leafs do happen to be interested in Sean Durzi, and can move Rielly, Carlo and sign Raddysh in free agency, how would you feel about...

McCabe-Raddysh
OEL-Durzi
Andrae-Tanev
