Too old, too slow.Boone Jenner would be such a boring signing and doesn’t solve anything. Would still need a 2C.

If JT’s minutes are properly managed he can be effect for the entire season, moving him to the 3rd line C spot achieves this, might be the best 3rd line C in the league?I vehemently disagree. The production is there but Tavares leaves me wanting more, and at his age it’s a lot to ask of him to be a 2C on a Cup contender.
I hope so.Maybe Matthews will see the Thachuk trade and want to be traded too. 2nd overall + Eklund + Dickinson to San Jose.![]()
Not even close, Knies is a great player, but he’s a power forward lite imo, he hasn’t the temperament nor the pugilistic skill of Wilson. Wilson’s a unicorn, not many like him.Isn’t that… Matthew Knies?
Next to impossible to find, but here’s hoping.True but that's gonna be hard to find.. Hopefully our scouts do their job
He needs another year in the AHL if think, to be NHL ready. If you're looking for someone that can play that physical style and handle themselves with the fisticuffs, We got a guy internally in Landon Sim who fits the bill.
Knies hasn’t displayed any sort of mean streak.Isn’t that… Matthew Knies?
Mathieu Olivieri would be the alternate guy you’d want. Doubt he’s available either. Not even close, Knies is a great player, but he’s a power forward lite imo, he hasn’t the temperament nor the pugilistic skill of Wilson. Wilson’s a unicorn, not many like him.
Knies doing an offseason of boxing training would be an amazing development for us.Knies hasn’t displayed any sort of mean streak.
Which part of Matthews isn't going anywhere that's so confusing to posters?Blockbuster proposal
To Toronto-
Wyatt Johnston
Thomas Harley
Mavrik Bourque
2027 1st Round Pick
To Dallas-
Auston Matthews
Matthew Knies
Nick Robertson
He also hasn't played C for nearly two seasons. Just sign Henrique if we're signing a 3C option.Boone Jenner would be such a boring signing and doesn’t solve anything. Would still need a 2C.
A 70 point center is not a 3C in any world. If JT’s minutes are properly managed he can be effect for the entire season, moving him to the 3rd line C spot achieves this, might be the best 3rd line C in the league?
Maybe let's start using 1sts for actual difference makers like Florida does instead of wasting them on middle 6 players.Friedman said on his podcast this morning he is hearing Nichushkins name out there and they are looking to clear some room. I would think Colorado would think long and hard if the Leafs offered their '27 1st back to them for him. I'd need to dig into his numbers more but on a whim if think about it here.
His personal issues would give me slight pause in this market as well. Deep due diligence would need to be done.
Active players with more PPG and more hits per game than Knies by his age last season:Knies hasn’t displayed any sort of mean streak.
That's a fair point. I guess my retort would be he has been an elite complimentary piece on route to a cup before and could be a good buy low. But yeah, I'd tend to agree with your point.Maybe let's start using 1sts for actual difference makers like Florida does instead of wasting them on middle 6 players.

Ha! You beat me to it.Sens are shopping 9th + 25th overall.
They have Cozens playing on the wing.
If they target someone like J Robertson maybe a combo of Avs 1st/Carlo/N Robertson+ can land Cozens?
They have the assets to land Knies as well, but I’d rather not move him (especially to a division rival). But something like 9th + Cozens + Yakemchuk/25th overall would be enough to satisfy the rumoured asking price.
A 70 point center is not a 3C in any world.
He's under contract to a team in Russia for another year or two. I think there would have to be a mutual termination of the contract, which would be unlikely, the team would have to buy him out, or he'd have to buy out his contract himself.Michael McLeod would be free and exactly the kind of centre that we need:
- Excellent on faceoffs
- Very good defensively
- Plays PK
- Very good skater
- Good hands and capable of producing
Not sure of his status regarding NHL availability though... has he been through a screening by the big bad Bettman?
Edit: Apparently, he would be eligible: Following his acquittal, the NHL reviewed the matter and officially cleared him to return to NHL play on December 1, 2025.
