  • Xenforo Cloud is upgrading us to version 2.3.11 on Monday July 20, 2026 at 12:00 AM PST. Expect a temporary downtime during this process. More info here
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
The only way I trade for ZW is if AM34 and ZW assure me they are resigning here. If Leafs are willing to go all-in, AM34 needs to be all-in first.

They could change their minds at any moment too though.

Thats why its such a gamble and why the team would NEED to perform well. It could all turn south pretty quickly if they crap the bed and it could actually be the best thing ever if they rock the league and it crates a domino effect with McDavid, etc. Wanting to join the circus.

Gosh... Matthews is getting $18M+ next summer, isn't he
Not if he plays 60 games and scores under 30 again.

His security guy says he's signing an extension on instagram in between calling people stupid lol

lol that would be unreal. But highly doubt it. Counters the reports that CBJ want to win now - which they should.

Dreger is also horrible re: anything Leafs so I doubt he’s right
Columbus may be looking at a potential rebuild if both Werenski and Marchenko want out, plus losing Marchment and Jenner as UFAs. They'd probably need to also dump Nuke, Garland etc.

The domino effect towards McDavid is real also.
All three of these guys have the same agent and if Werenski comes to Toronto and we take off, you don't think the player and agent won't be thinking about how he'd look on this team?

When you got a talent like McDavid a few years away from FA, A legacy team like our's needs to be strongly gameplanning to be able to make it happen once he hits the market.

Doesn’t Columbus want players off the main roster / help now ? If Knies is out and Moser is in the Tampa offer that’s an easy decision for the Jackets to make seemingly .

Maybe the reporting isn’t right and either:
A) Tampa is not his preferred spot
B) Tampa isn’t eager to blow up their roster to accommodate Werenski

I dont know. Either way something around Cowan, Danford, 1st really doesn’t feel likely.

Dont make a mistake with Bob on our position of strength. Ridiculous error. Were not signing Sidney Crosby here. Dont offer term. Dont offer anything actually

No if that’s the case why not wait … that’s not a deal that incentivizes them to get a deal done quickly…

Couple things here.

1) I'm calling complete bullshit on all Knies rumours if we aren't putting him in a package for Werenski.

2) if we are offering that, we are probably offering the Colorado first, plus the 29 first as well.

3) We must have some inside knowledge his actual preference is Toronto cause unless Tampa isn't offering anyone off the roster that'll be easy to beat
