beautiful troll job but couple things

1) canes wanted KK anyway and tried to trade for him
2) KK felt like an outcast in montreal not able to speak french and wanted to get teh F out (based on a tweet on the mainboards). I am Canadian and I wouldn't want to live in Quebec and have ZERO interest in learning French. Life is short; I'd prefer to do things that bring me joy :laugh:

 
Well for the record, KK needs to sign the OS too, lol.

Canes pretty much say F U Habs for OS Aho.

Yeah, I love the trolling of Montréal, but I'm not sure I love this for Carolina? $6.1M/1st+3rd is steep for a player who really hasn't amounted to much.

Mind you, he's 21. So clearly the Hurricanes think he has more to give.

(Also, because Bergevin doesn't know how to oversheet properly, that Aho contract turned out really good for Carolina).

Canes will make the playoffs so a later 1st for a guy with his potential is a pretty decent value move imo
 
Perfect scenario would be Habs match, have to shed salary, revenge trade him at end of season for a crappy return, then he has a breakout year.
 
They shouldn't but Habs have to match they have Suzuki and Paquette and nothing else at center.
 
If the Habs lose him, their centre depth is shot to hell (already was weak)… Bergy might be forced to match on this alone
 
If he gets matched and he significantly underplays his 6.1 habs won't sign him to a qualifying offer.

I also don't mind the assets here if I'm the habs either if they don't match. This is stupid of the canes to do, now every player will use that contract as leverage.
