It's a shame that we even have to think about trading Engvall, to be honest.

The dude is a 6'4 and can skate like crazy. If the dude had any sort of a Mean Streak/Physicality at all....he would've given us such a more dynamic look.

Absolute shame. He's the Justin Holl version of forwards

Well...definitely some interesting options with the new acquisitions. I do believe the vision is for the KKK line to be our shutdown line. Bunting and Ritchie as the left wingers in the top 6. Simmonds/Spezza/Joey/Brooks/Engvall as the 4th liners.

I'm still holding out hope that Rielly signs a team friendly 8 year deal. He seems like a different breed to the young money millionaires we drafted. I think Rielly might be the guy who grasps the concept of being a legend in the greatest market in the world for a few mill less when you already have more money than you know what to do with. If not, i'm sure he's traded before camp begins. I can't imagine we'll let him walk. And what's the point in waiting until the deadline to trade him for picks?

Leafs still need a 6th Defenseman with some Grit/Physicality.

Really sad missing out on Jani Hankanpaa.

He's a very good defensive player, if Keefe still wants to try a shutdown/matchup line Engvall would be on it imo

For me, it depends if he was betting for or against his own team.

If you're gambling on games on your team, it's much easier to bet against...just go out there and take some dumb penalties and give the other team free powerplays...definitely easier than working your a55 off to try to score a game winner for your team.

Earlier, I was quite intrigued by the idea of acquiring Christian Dvorak from Arizona using Kerfoot +. I figured the Yotes would like to save the money (Dvorak being owed 5.075M this coming season and needs to be paid 5.725M the last two seasons of his deal ending in 24/25). His contract carries a 4.45M cap hit. After bonus day, Kerfoot is owed in real $ just under 3.5M or about 1.75M/ for his remaining two seasons. The next two seasons would see Dvorak being paid 8.525M in real dollars. A 1 for 1 trade would see the Yotes saving 5 million over two years, plus the 11.5M owed during Dvorak's last two years.
Attempting to compare the two, I think it's fair to say Dvorak has played more 2nd line minutes with less talented players and has managed to provide very comparable numbers to Kerfoot. Just as an example:
Career:
Kerfoot has provided .489 p/g
Dvorak has provided .483 p/g
Not watching a whole lot of Arizona games, I'm not able to offer a 'eye's view perspective' but he reads like a decent player working with less than stellar talent and would benefit playing a 3C role, and would most likely provide the Leafs with an upgrade over Kerfoot in that role. Dvorak can also PK, and is substantially better at FOs with 52%.

Would a Kerfoot and Engvall (we would save 300k this year) for Dvorak + 2nd round pick be something we'd like? Would the Yotes like it?

My thought is no they wouldn't
