We have cap space for both. Hakanpaa on that deal would have been great. Too bad he didn't pick us but Dallas is probably a better spot for him.

Hakanpaa/Menell/Liljegren as a trio for the right side would have been perfect and may have even freed Holl up for a trade to bring back some draft capital.
100% Really sucks to miss out on Hak

Josh Brown is a free agent?
Gudrabson might a fine one too sire. Hakanpaa,... I don't if the big man wanted to come to canada. He gone now anyway milord.

We might want to pump that thang up with polak or something like that there.

If I were a free agent, I’d be looking to get my family to Texas too right about now.

You’re welcome to direct yourself towards the krakens boards, or literally anywhere else

i find it cute that apparently criticizing the club espcially dubas gets the people triggerd enough to tell Leafs fans to go cheer for another team.

how pathetic is that. I've never in my life told another Leaf fan to go cheer another team.

dubas era has been pretty frustrating

They really have no faith in Liljegren. :-(
I don't think it means that. Dubas mentioned they have been blocking guys like him, and will give guys like him an opportunity to take hold of a spot. They want a veteran as insurance

Fair enough, then please don't suggest that it is an excuse. It is a reality that has effects. Whether that changes or not, you believing not, is another discussion. Anyway, 10:30 pm here and I've got to dive into a show or I'll go mad. We're in lockdown here and things are getting worse, that you and I can argue this mundane stuff is fun and enlightening, but now it's time for a beer and a whisky and a little bit of Harry Bosch. Not great stuff, but it passes the time. Have yourself a good one. Cheers.

Yeah, it’s been an entertaining morning.

My view is based on being a long-time coach. I always try to eliminate excuses for my players. Maybe I aim that a bit too much towards posters on this forum lol

Yup it is really frustrating to see Lily not given teh chance. At least see what you have in him by giving him proper opportunity

Personally I found Lily's defensive game, defensive awareness and outlets to be better than Sandin in teh small sample size we saw Lily play

Yup. It's more his contract - specifically his $400K ELC bonus - that has been a factor in him not getting an extended look.

It could also have something to do with Liljegren's performance bonuses.

His underlyings in the AHL are actually better at 5v5 too as far as I remember.

I don't think adding RD shows what they think of Liljegren though. I think it shows they don't want to put Dermott on the right side. If they are unwilling to play either of Sandin/Dermott on RD, then your 3RD right now is Liljegren, and if he or any of the current RD gets hurt, or he isn't great at camp, they're extremely thin after that.

I
Swap Kerfoot+Amirov into Mangiapane and the Leafs have their new top 6 LW and 4.5M to spend elsewhere.
I like Mangiapagne but this year was his best production wise that would've put at 46 pts over 82 games. He is 25. His ceiling isn't going to be much better than that. Amirov has a higher ceiling. He is a prospect and theres no guarantee he will be an NHLer but he has all the tools to be like a Kyle Connor with a better 200 ft game. No way is he going in a package for Mangiapgne.

yeah, I guess that would've meant Dermott being traded. I'd honestly rather have him than Hakanpaa for the same money though
Yeah, same money in, same money out. You’d have cost certainty for an extra year.
Good sign that the option is being considered.
Im curious about Dermott’s trade value tho.

What frustrating is opening up this website and seeing the same 5-7 clowns repeating the same nonsense over and over again. I have been here a long time and take pride in the fact my ignore list is very short, but I’m thinking that it’s going to have to be expanded

This worries me in the sense that it sounds similar to when Keefe moved Hyman down to the third line to give them a boost. The top two lines see more ice time. I'd probably rather have the team aim for the bigger fish if the cap situation allows for it.
