I'm starting to think we are going to end up with Fluery because Pittsburgh has their tandem locked up Colorado just filled their spot

And I do think it will be hard to get done for Minnesota given the amount of dead cap on their books.

I’m guessing he wants to keep his money in the forward group. The reality is the cap sucks for great teams and the Avs will take a hit one way or another.

They proved they can win with average goaltending. If they can bring back the remaining cast, they should be fine.

Kuemper would be a fantastic target. One of the best goaltenders the last 3-4 years. His eye was literally gouged and he played through it. I think he deserves some slack for that injury and still be ok.

Would Edmonton be a prime spot for him? They were in the mix last summer and I think he’s an Alberta guy. Or at least Western Canadian for sure.

Kuemper is from Saskatoon, so about as close as it gets.

Toronto is going to be closer to a contender than Minnesota, who just had to offload Fiala and will be in Suter-Parise cap jail for the next 3 years (aka remainder of Fleury’s career).
We're also closer to his hometown in Quebec

Appears the stars are aligning for us to get MAF

God I wish we had cap space
Dubas should give Tavares some tickets to go to some ski resorts, or these...

If Matt Murray is who we end up with, it will be another season of me checking out until they do something in the playoffs.

It won't just be Matt Murray. Mrazek would be involved in one way or another and effectively we are in the same spot with a higher risk, higher reward backup/secondary tandem guy.

We would still be in the market for some kind of guy to pair with him, whether it is Fleury, Husso, Blackwood, Samsonov, etc. Just like we would have a guy to pair with Mrazek.

Husso could be a decent fit in DET. Chicago needs a couple of goalies too.

BUF doesn't need anyone.

If Detroit gets a goalie I wouldn’t mind taking a look at Ned. Even though he basically looks like a wilder Mrazek.

Murray AND Mrazek could basically neutralize whatever enjoyment in watching Matthews and Marner at the other end.

I really want Kuemper. I hope we’re looking at ways to make that happen. Dubas and Co. know we need to get the goaltending right.

If you choose the wrong dance partner at the position, there aren’t going to be any teams willing to switch with you without taking their pound of flesh

It's done for Ned. People need to realize that Carolina's defensive system makes almost every goalie look good.

I think they want someone to pair with Ned, and it doesn't make sense for us unless it is Ned for Mrazek.

Ned was not a good goalie last year, and he only has a small sample size of any kind of success (which was behind the same defense which made Mrazek and various others look good). DET had a bad defense, but their goaltending was even worse.

Mrazek is the opposite; he has a large sample size of success marred by one poor season.

So Fleury is down to Minnesota and Toronto then?

Avs - out
Pens - have their tandem
Caps - he rejected going there already
And with the Kaprizov ordeal going on I wonder if Fleury takes that into consideration (meaning minny might not be as good of a team without the Krill effect) even though Bill says everything is okay.

Why do you want Kuemper though.. he really isn't that good.

I don’t think Kuemper is bad at all. A career .918sv%, and a guy who can make big saves. With the options available on the market, who are you more confident in on a nightly basis?
