I don't get that sense. Dubas is more open to the media and gives detailed answers. I think you are mistaking well spoken for too much talking

Dubas likes to put on a show. He can be well spoken but if he’s not providing information, which he shouldn’t, he doesn’t actually need to say anything to the media.

Yep. And on one level I get it. Milk Crosby and Malkin for everything they can. A rebuild is tomorrow's problem (though it's probably going to be a big one once they actually try and deal with it)
Exactly.

Cant entirely fault them for doubling down if they still think they have enough left in the tank for a few more runs but I don't see it going much longer then that before a rebuild.

Let's be honest Pittsburgh sucking for years after wouldn't bother me.

They've won plenty and had lemieux, Crosby, jagr... 3 of the best players ever to play the game.

Georgiev to Colorado for mid round picks equivalent to what we paid for Rittich.

Well I would say an extra 3rd + 5th is not "equivalent".

Not sure I would say Georgiev is any better than Rittich either.

Georgiev for 2 3rds and a 5th.

Doesn't sound like Avs liked the goalie market much. Georgiev is not worth that.

They might be ready to take a step back in some respects due to cap but maybe they go cheap in net to keep some of Nichushkin and Kadri as well.

I'm pretty sure sens fans would murder Dorion if he did that pick swap with the leafs

They have such a hard on for us

Darn, was interested in the Leafs acquiring him. Like this move for the Avs (though high trade cost) though likely means Kuemper heads to free agency

Would you give keumper 5/6 he's at least interesting

Oh for some reason I thought we paid 2x 3rds for him. I guess it was just assets out the door around the time we got Foligno.

It would be tough, but Nylander+Sandin as a starting point. Likely would see us move Kerfoot+Holl elsewhere as well. It's not ideal, but workable, and we pray the cap shoots up. The player is tailor made for us, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
It's actually too bad that Evander Kane is not able to sign or unknown because he could come in around close to what Nylander is making and quite a few million less than what Tkachuk is going to want.

Yes I'd like either or, but in a tight cap world I feel Kane gives you a better bang for the buck and would also be a great add. (kinda get this feeling Ottawa may do a deal with Montreal (anderson and dvaroak then flip them for the brother of the same mother. lol

Ouch. Very pricey. Makes me worried about what we might give up in a trade for a goalie.

It feels like Colorado jumped the gun on a very mediocre option.

That is the kind of price you pay if he is the last option left. He was a backup goalie, and not even a good one, the past two years... And he was a very mediocre tandem option at his best, which is effectively what Mrazek has been for the bulk of his career.

Then you are paying high 2's or low 3's in cap just to keep him?

Definitely makes getting Mrazek for one mill more in cap but zero assets look a lot more attractive to teams.

People use to make fun of Sakic I thought a few years ago.

Sure seems like he knows what he's doing now. Sometimes moves can bite you in the ass but he has the guts to actually go for it.

I'll add this isn't directed at Dubas. Just that Sakic obviously talked to Keumper and so he went for the move.

I’m guessing he wants to keep his money in the forward group. The reality is the cap sucks for great teams and the Avs will take a hit one way or another.

Wonder how many takers there are now for Kuemper. I'm in closer to 5+m if we run out of options.

  1. Nylander, William
  2. Sandin, Rasmus
  3. Mrázek, Petr
  4. Robertson, Nicholas
  5. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
for
  1. Tkachuk, Matthew [RFA Rights]
  2. Markström, Jacob ($3,000,000 retained)
Sign Matthew at $11 mil x 7 years... (ouch)

I'd already moved out Holl and Kerfoot for M. McLeod... Have Kallgren as the #2 goalie at $750k... not ideal, but we could throw someone else in that slot. Signed Puljujarvi @ $1.3, Kase @ $1.2

End up with 18 people on the roster. Need a bottom pairing RD, need two forwards, have $5.3 mil in cap space left.

I mean, it's doable... realistic?? One heck of a blockbuster, that you don't see very often in the NHL.

Would Edmonton be a prime spot for him? They were in the mix last summer and I think he’s an Alberta guy. Or at least Western Canadian for sure.
