Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. My guess is that Murray will be on his third IR stint by then.

I don’t get Leaf fans. We have had Campbell in net the past two seasons and it got us where exactly? Let me remind you, first round exits both times. You need a goalie in the playoffs to steal you a game in a 7 game series. Campbell didn’t. Price and Vaseleyski did against us. That’s why we lost. But yet Campbell wants 5 million plus per season. And you are all crying that he should get it instead of Murray under 5 million.
He’s 28 years old, a proven winner in the playoffs with 2 Stanley Cups. And because he’s been awful with an awful team in Ottawa and been injured to boot. He is an awful goaltender.
I promise you all that every single one of you will be saying how great of a trade this was that Dubas made.
Murray will turn it around on a winner and playing at home.

Murray is currently the age Campbell was when we acquired him. Campbell was a backup who played a starters role here for the first time ever, not very well either.
That is the bar Murray has to beat, it’s not set very high. In fact, there’s a good chance we upgraded in goal.
Again, with the disclaimer that the risk is not worth the deal or cap that came with acquiring him.

The reason why we hate this move is after his two cup winning seasons, the team that won 2 cups with him traded him and the team that acquired him put him on waivers.
Hes not a good goalie and 32 out of 32 teams agreed when he went unclaimed. We took his deal for 2 very Longshot draft picks because the team was desperate to get a goalie, despite management saying we aren't desperate.

He’s been on IR 7 times as a Senator and the last Stanley cup was like 5 years ago, that’s an eternity in sports, goaltenders turn to crap, that’s how it goes.

Effectively what I said about it being like Andersen and Bernier.
Part one of the deal which netted us Andersen happened before the draft because we needed to include #30 in that draft... Bernier had a signing bonus in July, so he couldn't be traded yet, but he was part 2 of that deal.
In this case, part one (this part) needed to happen before the buyout window, which I think is tomorrow. Kerfoot and Holl do not have their bonuses paid until July 13th. Part 2 happens after that. That is the only way it makes sense.

Look at it this way, the buyout of Murray saves 2.5 mill per year.
If you could have bought 2ish mill of cap space for a 3rd and 7th, would you do it? I would. So basically thats what the sens saved themselves. Its a great deal from their perspective, not sure why we are holding the bag on the other end.

Yes just because free agency day changed this year, it doesn’t matter. Terms are July 1st the bonus is to be paid.

Luff and Aston-Reese would be alright too. Definitely quite a few options to go with. Last season Dubas signed curveballs with Kampf and Kase, could see a could surprises there too.

Murray could have signed with anyone after buy-out, if he could have been bought out.
We have to get another goalie that can give us .900+ save%. Murray and his health is way to sxary to give the reigns to Kallgren and Woll for 60 games.
