Off-season starts off with a BANG

Decent haul for the Wild, though not a draw dropping return. I'm high on Faber though.

Wild have been in a tight spot capwise. Could potentially take a step back this season, which is a shame. Fiala's has been so-so in the postseason for them though

Sounds to me like the Kings might be a good trading partner for the Leafs. They have a lot of forwards and not many spots.

Holl could be a good target for them. Maybe even Sandin if they offer someone really good.

Doesn't seem like a lot for the love Fiala gets around here.

Pick isn't high, and Fabar is a 2nd.

Thats what happening when you dont take in consideration 7.9M in salary he was asking for...

The trade in reality is 1st + faber + 7.9M of salary you can use to sign a other foward or keep player

Minbesota had to make a choice and for me fiala is not a top 5 player of minnesota... resign Dumba should be their priority right now

They didn't get 7.9 in cap space. They got a pick and a prospect for Fiala.

If Leafs trade rights to Campbell to NJ and they sign him for $6mm Leafs don't get $6mm in cap space. They get a 4th. round pick or whatever he's worth.

But I guess what you're saying is they couldn't afford to keep him because of their Cap Issues.

LD is their largest need.

It was the cost to keep the player...so yes the 7.9M count...

Like toronto cost to keep nylander is 7M and you cant use that 7M for nothing else... its a value who came from with the trade

Thats what cap is

A guy like hagel have as much value. Because with his low salary of hagel allow you to have hagel+ palat at the same salary of nylander... hagal+palat together dont have less value than a nylander or fiala alone...

People just underrating value of cap space in a trade

Looks like a win-win. Faber is highly rated prospect, 19th OA should be a decent player. Faber basically steps in for Dumba when his contract expires.
