Teams can get fined and penalized for cap evasion. The league has rules about the nature of lineups for preseason for goodness sakes. What Chicago seems to be doing is intentionally dismantling any chance of having a competitive team in the next several seasons. I'm surprised that the league is okay with this.

Unless its a legit prospect/younger player, it's not worth it. I don't think Brown is worth having Murray on the team. He's legit Marzek 2.0, can't stay healthy when you need him. Check his GP the last 3 seasons, 38,27,20.

I don't understand why a GM would look at a great team that was held back by goaltending and think Matt Murray is the way forward. All he has to do is find someone reliable at it would be a huge upgrade, but he just wants to cheap out yet again

If true, gross. Even at max retention he isn't worth picking up. Hasn't looked like a legit starter since 18-19 and they don't need another $3M backup. I'm not saying its impossible that he will show a new level(or his old level), just that there is no reason to assume that will happen. I don't see it unless like Cor says, its for dirt cheap and double retention knocks the deal down to backup money.

Kerfoot and Holl for Murray at 50%, Zub and Watson.

Solidify the blueline by giving Rielly a partner in Zub and allowing Brodie to play with either Muzzin or Sandin.

Watson brings more of what we need in the bottom of our lineup - 6’4”, skates well, checks well, PKs well, blocks shots, hits and fights.

Yeah definitely, I mean....it would have to be @ full 50% retention and something else significant would have to be accompanying him.

They were going to swap picks 7 and 16 with 50% to get rid of Murray. That's a ton. And you would think the deal would have to be even sweeter than that because Murray has a say in where he goes and has already invoked his NTC against going to Buffalo.
