I think teams mostly just let other teams talk to their UFAs for nothing, and then agree to make a trade if they come to an agreement early.

Most likely STL let multiple teams talk to him and they effectively said we will trade his rights to whomever wants to sign him first. Otherwise, take your chances on July 13.
 
A 3rd is a bit much and the contract is an overpay. Thats not going to help us with Campbell or Kuemper.
Seems like trade route is the right move and no Murray will not count

If Gibson were to have had a career year this year he wouldn’t be available in a trade. At some point you have to trust your eyes. Gibson just didn’t become a bad goaltender over night.

Almost every elite goaltender has had rough stretches and poor years.

Literally the best time to buy Gibson is right now. And people saying his contract ends when he's 33. That's perfect. We have him locked up for his prime years

We probably get Blackwood or Murray if he gets bought out. Varlamov and Holtby also options in there.

Someone stable and someone with upside.

I don't see us getting Gibson. Way too much risk for someone who is not any more of a sure bet than Murray at this point.

But regardless. Washington. Us. Edmonton are the 3 teams left for 2 goalies.

I wanted Gibson all along. Hope that’s a possibility

Like would we do an aiden hill Comrie tandem?

Or bought out Murray? Seems pretty crazy to bet mattys decision year on this

Washington has a starting goalie in Samsonov. They probably want a cheaper backup

If he has another down year he won’t be worth much. In this market Anaheim could still get some picks/prospects that will help with their rebuild and some team will have to overpay for him now.

Sandin + 38th??

I think Washington beats that offer
